21:0022:00 5 live Sport 5 live Boxing, 25/03/2009 Mike Costello and Steve Bunce with boxing news and guest interviews. wish they has this show more reguarly or set up a podcast. always a good listen but its not regular enough so they don't get into enough depth as it takes an hour to talk about whats happened previously and whats coming up.
good heads up rob. i think its like once a month we need to txt and e-mail and tune in because the more demand there is the more often they may do it
It's a disgrace that there is not a podcast. It's a disgrace that there is not a phone-in on a regular basis. It's a disgrace that the BBC's own website has NEVER once plugged this show. I'm sorry about that - but, this show has been since its first episode in Sept 2004 top quality. Tomorrow's show is a monster - just about every big name in British boxing. It's even more of a mystery that TalkSport are NOT interested in a regular boxing show. On the Bunce Hour we once had over 4,000 emails and texts - figures like that would blow any BBC or TalkSport hour-long daytime show out of the water but still no phone-in. That is a great big mystery to me. Adios.
how you doing buncey? it IS a disgrace, talksport even have a fishing yes fishing show for 2 hours on saturdays and sundays which does pathetic numbers. theres a lot of hostility towards boxing particularly on the bbc. Maybe you could approach talksport for a show and we can rally the fans to make it big, i've always wondered why they have never had you on to talk about the big fights anytime they have anything on boxing they have that human cockfighting promoter who works for the telegraph something davies
Spot on Buncey. Obviously clashing with the football on Wednesday nights is always going to be a problem so the show needs a permanent slot elsewhere in the schedules that will allow it to build an audience and get boxing the sort of exposure it deserves. Maybe the way forward with TalkShite is to bombard their regular shows (eg Breakfast and Drive) with requests for boxing updates and news in the hope that this makes them see sense and give us a dedicated show. The appetite for boxing is massive in the UK. If only these jokers on the radio could see that.
How easy is it to Sky+ radio shows? I have tried to put this into the Sky+ ready for tomorrow night, but the TV is not having any of it. (My Mrs moans about boxing on TV, the radio would push her over the edge - my only hope is to record it and catch it later when she nods off)
Hope so. I remember having some trouble finding it on there in the past but it may have been a case of ******ation catching up with me. It really is a disgrace that this show isn't pushed more by the beeb and even more so that talksport take no interest in boxing whatsoever - would it really kill them to give us two hours out of 168? Even a biweekly show would do.
You can do it but you've got to do it manually, I've just tried to do it with Danny Baker's show. My missus hates boxing too - but has radio 5 on all the time so if I leave it on at least she won't turn it off and she probably won't even notice. :smoke
Talksport dedicated an hour on a thursday night between 9 and 10 i think for a few weeks in the build up to the Jones - Calzaghe and the Hatton - Magic man fights. They seemed very busy maybe they dont think they would hold intrest every week. As Bunce says surely the success of the Bunce hour would show the other stations that there is a place for a boxing spot in their schedule.
Buncey, doesn't the BBC mind you trying to get a boxing show on Talksport or are you freelance journalist?
On tonight's Five Live show.... Mayweather Snr on Roach, Hatton on Pacman, Froch on Taylor, Khan on life and some award winning Benn I talk to anybody - I have to eat!! Adios.
