You mean like Mike Perez being ranked even though he hasn't fought at heavyweight in seven years and has beaten no one of note at any weight in nine?

It all comes down to that 3% cut the WBC takes.

No, he was just recently a belt holder.

And Joshua has had a much better last couple of years, and last four fights than Fury.
I rank AJ higher than anyone in the division not named Usyk.

WBC is a joke. You don't have to look too far: they elevated Gvozdyk to #2 even though he has not beat anyone of note in the past 5 years and made a fight for "interim" belt even though Beterbiev defended his belt 5 months ago.

yeah and others. basically 5-8 (Pero, Perez, Chaney, Hunter) is complete nonsense.

not sure if it's due to corruption, WBA being clueless or just not caring. Probably a combination.

It might also be to the promoters not caring.

WBA is the last belt in the rotation of title defences for Usyk. So, the big names are less likely to want to climb that ladder at the moment. Especially when they know they have to get the Regular belt holder in the ring to actually get a title shot. So, a title shot against the true champion will likely not come around again until 2026 at the earliest. I reckon that will be partly why you are seeing a lot of lower ranked fighters making up their top 10: they are jockeying for position.

All the major players in the division have been competing for the IBF and WBO mandatory slots, while the WBC tends to align itself with the popular fighters. The WBA ladder might look a bit better when it gets closer to their guy getting a title shot, and the promoters see value in it.

Yea, but he was the champions. THE number 1. So it makes sense that he would be ranked as the number one contender, given that he literally was the champion. Not that I am against other per say being ranked above him.

Joshua skyrocketing in the WBC rankings is just odd. It makes no sense in terms of their own rankings.

You sure you don't work for the WBC... hahahaha

    You should, because I'm convinced.

Joking aside, I get what you are saying - it just feels strange to me having a guy who was so fundamentally exposed being rated as among the 10 best heavyweights.

If losing so spectacularly... twice... doesn't see you removed from (arguably) the most prestigious ranking organisations top 10, what will?

I'm just surprised Deontay Wilder isn't in their top 10...lol.

    Hahahaha... don't say that.

It just proves you can be very persuasive.

So now, they have removed Joshua from their ranking entirely two months too early. Yet more shady goings on with the WBC?

So why is this a problem? Well, the WBC do indeed remove fighters for competing for other world titles, however, in the past this is done on the month of the fight. Actually, they didn't even remove Parker from their February rankings this year, less than a month before he won the WBO interim. And inserted Zhang as soon as he lost. I noticed they weren't so generous with Parker when he lost to Joyce for the WBO interim, though. So I wonder why they are doing this now...

    Follow the money I guess.

Too bad for Kabayel if they declare Fury as Usyk's mandatory defence.

Yeah, I get you bro. Also the dudes saying why focus on one ain't wrong. I made a WBA thread that's not terribly old. I wouldn't mind if a mod merged them.

If OP is down, I'm down too, we can throw IBF and WBO in and keep an active watchdog thread. Just criticize these pricks every time they mess with fans.
