:deal Right. Also, Louis was the real world champion not some title holder like Wlad was for the majority of his career since winning the belt in 06. Louis is far superior in every department.

    what's a "real world champion"?

Since beating Byrd, Wlad has been as real a champion as you can get.

Wlad has only been 'the' champion since beating Chagaev. People wouldn't argue that Nathan Cleverly already has a few light heavyweight title defences. He doesn't.

    Paper title defences mean nothing.

what makes chagaev any better a victory than byrd?

Noone would argue about Cleverly because Hopkins is the best LHW in the world right now.

Once Vitali and Lewis retired, Byrd was the number 1 HW, Wlad beat him in 2006. Since then there hasn't been a better HW.

Louis did not make the streak in concurrent years either. It was broken up several years due to world war 2, and Louis serving as a boxer to entertain the troops.

Some of the bum of the month guys Louis fought were even worse than Mormeck.

You could argue that Wlad has been the best heavyweight since he best Byrd but he only became the true champion when he beat Chagaev. They're two different things.

Anyone who is desirous to start a championship lineage thread should be required to run their idea through Luf beforehand:deal

I always think Wlads opponents have the same look in their eyes when they're on the stool after the first couple of rounds. The realisation of what they're up against, and almost a look of desperation.

I'd love you to explain the difference to me.

Specifically with regard to the word "true"

11 defences is what he has, he ends up with 13 this year. If he fights 3 times a year he needs 4/5 years to break it but logically 2 times per year makes more sense, he would need 6/7 years. I dont think he will break louis record but if he reaches 20 he should go for it.

The lineal title is not held by the best fighter in the division. For example, Erdei was lineal for years despite clearly not beating the best.

In order to create a new lineage, the champion must be undisputed and not just 'the best'. The reason being is because 'the best' is subjective. You think Byrd was the best, as do I, but that is just our opinion. A new lineage can not be evolved from opinion, there must be a title unification.

That's why so many divisions have no lineal champion right now. There is a 'best' in each division but there isn't a champion in each.

Wlad has been the best in the world for a lot longer than he's been the true heavyweight champion, which began when he beat Chagaev.

    This I can't see him breaking Louis's.

I think he'll reach Holmes milestone of 20 though :good

OMG SHUT UP YOU KLIT TROLL. Louis still had the title in the years of WW2 though. You are comparing apples to oranges. Wlad's total defence count is 19, that's if you count the bogus WBO belt. In terms of CONSISTENT, CONSECUTIVE defenses in the SAME title reign, Wlad currently has 11. Not even close to Louis' 25.
