Tony Bellew (Sky Sports): 114-114 DRAW...erm, so what about the knockdown? Tony's scorecard should be changed to a win for Kovalev.
Nah you don't lol. You apparently have not seen a close boxing match before. Just curious who'd you score round one for?
I had it for Ward but definitely can't argue with those that scored it for Kovalev. This is what happens in close fights. Sadly though, a lot of fans seem to be looking at this fight like it's Pacquiao vs Bradley when it reality it's more similar to Williams vs Martinez I.
Judges get wined and dined by promoters. They sometimes award the fight to the undeserving fighter. How do you think Garcia 'won' against Herrera, or Holyfield drawing with Lewis or Hooker drawing with Perez. The decision was paid for by the richer promoter.
Scoring is subjective Here is my score card, it is the way I saw the fight at the time and I stand by it. http://i64.tinypic.com/4kbe9s.jpg I thought Kovalev's aggression was wasted and whenever Ward got a chance, he landed cleaner shots. It was a close fight though, I underrated Kovalev and I thought he would get made to look silly at times.
1,2,3,4,6,10,12 for Kovalev. I can't see how anyone can give round 10 to Ward. You have to be really biased to do it.
Whoever scored that fight for ward needs to get their eyes tested, period. 1 judge gave kovalev one round out of the last six!!!! LOLZ you got to be kidding me. Not suprised with officials in the US tho, i knew kovalev would get robbed if it went the distance talk about robbing the champ in your backyard, ward sytle
You have the right score. Personally, I'd throw out any scoring from the actually venue. You don't have the best view of the fight from whatever side of the ring you are on, several rows back. The TV view is the best view for scoring it live. I scored it for Ward wider than the official scores.
That's how I had it as well. Now, this wasn't a Whitaker-Chavez, cover of Sports Illustrated caliber robbery...but I definitely thought the champ did enough to earn the nod. Landed more frequently, landed the harder shots, brought the fight to Ward. Ward certainly deserves credit for gutting it out after a rough start and making it a far closer fight than it appeared initially...but personally, I didn't feel like he deserved the win. That said, I definitely like Ward's chances in the rematch.
