This number could go up. Pretty amazing for an old fighter against an unknown commodity to generate this much PPV buys.

    Unknown commodity?
Thurman has been around for a long time now. The Lopez fight alone averaged nearly 2mil. And that was seen as a mismatch in addition to Thurman coming off a layoff.
Guerrero, Garcia and Porter were all ratings hits as well.

I think this was Thurman's first time on PPV.

That said, who's done more than 600k buys this year?

PPV, yes, it was his first time headlining one. But he has been exposed to big audiences before. I think at least one of his previous fights peaked at 5mil or something.

But it's good to see that Pac is still a draw. Anything over 400k was seen as a big success. Plus they did a solid gate around 6mil.
Give the old guy a good opponent and people will tune in.

600k is big numbers. Pac is still a draw.

    That's impressive for Pacquiao.

A good portion of that was Thurmans doing. Hes done good numbers on regular tv for a while now. Promoters should take note and stop rushing up and coming stars into PPV.

Joshua did 580k in the UK fighting ruiz at 4am I’m the morning. Joshua does over a million or at least 900k when he fights at prime time in UK.

Thurman is far from an 'unknown commodity'.

Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia was the second highest rated fight on network TV since 1998 and peaked at like 5 million viewers.

And most of his other championship fights have done solid numbers too.

Kinda surprised it wasnt a bit more to be honest. Given the names and the promotion, almost dissapointing to me. Hope it still goes up.

Yes. Think that did somewhere in the 300k range.

We don't get many sporting events, boxing is an event to get the lads over for a beer. Plus its what, £14.99 for ppv in the UK?

I think that's a good number considering that Pacquiao doesn't get as much mainstream attention anymore. It says to me that people are hungry for big fights and are willing to pay to watch them. I'd rather Pac retire but am glad these two guys made some money.
