6''1 @ heavyweight. Would this be much of a problem?

    The other thing to mention too is unless you live in a big area, super heavyweights are harder to find. So you might find it hard to get a lot of fights. The upside is you have to win less bouts to get medals and trophies lol! I trained with a guy who won an Irish national title back in the 90's and he only had 2 bouts. Most other weight divisions, you would need to beat a lot more opponents to win comps.

    I'll be moving to a small city so I'd probably not get many bouts, lol!

    IMO, your better off cutting down a weight class or two.

    Not my area of expertise but the only heavyweight we had with us was 6'6" and his reach would demolish people. Was a lot of fun for me to spar with since he's practically a foot taller but those uppercuts felt like he'd knock my jaw off.

    Problem is:

    I'm a natural superheavyweight and I don't feel as good cutting.

    David Haye was only 6''1 yet aside from the Klitschko's, he was one of the best H.W's. Now I'm no David Haye, but I think he is proof that even today, skill can overcome size.

    The current top amateur rankings show a few 6''0-6''2 fighters at superheavyweight.

    All I'm saying is.. you better be fast and prepared to deal with monstrous sized men that are just as fast as you.

    If you don't mind me asking, how is your boxing fitness? If you can move well at your current weight and have excellent stamina, I wouldn't freak out about weight too much.

    I don't mind the questions. I think my fitness is good, I eat a lot of meat; I don't tire out too much, I work on my legs a lot. My legs are huge, it's natural, but that's where the power comes from.

    I'm not slow-footed and I love cardio work. I feel confident that I could beat 6''5-6''6 fighters. My reach being long helps.

    I think I've been fine. I'm good at slipping punches too.

    I can take a punch. I have a short neck, I don't know if that contributes to it though.

    YES, NO, and DEPENDS! The game is changing.

    YES: 78" is a very good reach

    NO: 6'1" is on the short end these days.

    DEPENDS: What is your style? If you are boxer, slugger, jab and move type, swarming attacking type?

    How's your power, do you in-fight, and what is your trim weight? Can you take a good punch. Do you have good hand speed?

    91K might be better for you unless you can hit a ton and have a forward moving attacking style.

    Povetkin, Chagaev and Ibragimov were very good AM fighters at heavy and super heavy. Chagaev was 6'. Povetkin and Ibragimov just 6'2" tall...but they all had the right style for it.
