Correct. Not all calories are equal, plus certain types will give your body a spike and make it retain fat, where others make it burn better, just the type of thing I done at uni, although I didnt particularly like it back then either And the theory always seems to change slightly over the years. One things for sure not all bodies run the same
Why didn't he back up his article with any scientific research? Here is a study http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full/79/5/899S#SEC2
The nutritional content of calories are obviously different, but the differences in energy expenditure are minimal at best. How does Manny even eat 7000 calories made of mostly protein, even half of that would be 875 grams protein, more than twice the amount that a 200+ body builder would intake, and quite impossible to accomplish frankly, unless he is eating protein 24 hours a day.
High quality protein shakes and high quality essential fats will soon up the kcals. I kind of look at it with the sponge analogy, if you constantly wring it dry to make the weight you would be surprised by how much it would weigh when you soak it in "high quality H20", sorry couldnt resist the Waterboy part Interesting though, his coach is obviously very good. I worked over there in a private conditioning gym, in LA, those guys know their stuff, no two ways about that.
Sure the cals would add up if his diet included majority carbs/fats rather than mostly protein as previously suggested. Still unlikely to add up to 7000 cals on a daily basis though.
Yeah and the study was carried out specifically for the point in question, I know which i'd rather follow. Didn't you previously state Manny's diet was mostly protein, what percentage are we talking about here?
Surely steroids do give enhanced performance as they artificially boost dtrength and recovery. If they simply gave non-functional mass as someone above suggests then the athletics world wouldn't ban them. Tommy Morrison is on record for saying they certainly gave him the edge at HW and without them he would have been a middle of the road cruiser!
