I don't mean to constantly be picky, but when Adamek was offered a contract previously, he said it wasn't good enough and didn't accept. A few fights later, where he looks very, very beatable, a new stadium in Poland that will bring in huge money and he suddenly accepts quickly? Call me a critic, sure, but it does seem a bit suspicious. I like Adamek though. He's a good fighter and I hope he does well. No way does he beat Wlad there. That's a horrible opponent for him.
Contradictory to ESB custom, I'm going to attempt to add something useful to a thread. 1. Why wasn't Haye offered a fight in September, which is now the date for a Wlad/Adamek fight? Fair question, I'd like to know myself. Personally, I have no idea because I wasn't in the negotiations. Maybe Chef or Boxing Domain can answer? They seem to have the most reliable information about K2. 2. Is it possible to promote a Wlad/Haye fight as well as it should be, given the restrictions of the 8 week gap between the Chisora and Haye fights? Yes. Actually, I think it helps things because Chageav is a name some might know and Chisora is the British champion. Both fights should be marketed heavily to give a build up and the opportunity for people to see both guys fight other current contenders/champions. It displays what a World Champion looks like against a Regional/National champion. 3. Was Wlad right to reject a fight in the UK in May? He wouldn't have needed a fight to lose ring rust and it would be a bigger money fight in Britain. Was Wlad right to reject that bout and, if so, why? As the True Champion, he should be able to choose the venue. I can't blame him for fighting on his home turf and giving that fight to his fanbase in DE. Is it financially prudent? If it is actually true that they could make more in UK than DE, then its not prudent. I'm not sure how much of a difference in the expected revenues is, but would be curious to know. 4. This is the biggest fight in Wlad's career so far, so is it unusual he would be happy to disrupt his training which has worked for him so far? He would either have to train for 18+ weeks non-stop, including the Chisora fight, or he would have a rest and then an eventual 6-7 week training camp. Does this make sense, considering it's the biggest fight of his career? First, its not the biggest fight of his career. IMO, the Chris Byrd fight was the most significant fight of his career. He was coming off of losses of his world titles and worked his way back up through Reginal/International titles to earn a title shot, and he won. Also, Chris Byrd is a much better boxer than David Haye. Second, Wlad is a gym rat and trains all year long. I don't think the schedule makes a difference in training camps as long as he isn't hurt in the preceding fight. Also, I'm sure they have studied Haye and have a game-plan, considering the fight was supposed to happen previously. 5. If Haye had no intention to fight Wlad, why did he accept every demand before Klitschko mentioned Chisora? Before the Chisora fight was announced, the last I heard was that they were disagreed over TV money and couldn't make the fight happen. Show me proof from a reliable source and I can answer this question. 6. If Haye didn't want the fight, why would he accept 50/50, despite bringing over twice as much to the table as Klitschko? Why did he accept the fight to be in Germany, where it isn't neutral, like America, and makes less money than Britain? By bringing twice as much to the table you mean less HW experience, success and legitimacy? If not, what you are talking about? My opinion is that Haye's intention all along was to build up the fight as much as possible, fight, get paid and if he won, have a few more fights...if he lost..then retire. I think that since Wlad was balking at his demands that Haye had to make concessions if he wanted to fight to happen and fund his retirement. 7. Should Vitali ask the WBC if he can unify instead of going ahead with the Solis fight? He and Haye are free and the fight could happen in May in Britain. Should Vitali at least ask for permission to unify? I'm surprised Vitali hasn't asked already, considering he's offered to fight Haye this year. Perhaps if Haye accepted the challenge Vitali might see what could be done about Solis? I can't imagine Haye wanting Vitali, which is a fight he has no chance of winning.
I do agree with this and if there was 16 weeks in between fights, I think it would be perfect. I just think it'd be a struggle to hype it in such a short time, especailly America. I don't have the full figures, no, but I do know that the attendances would be roughly the same. The big difference is that British fans pay more on average than Germany fans, so 80,000 of each, which is possible, isn't similar in terms of actual money. A British crowd would pay more per ticket, without question. That depends on what your idea of a reliable source is Haye or Booth said it and I know people may say "They're liars" but I actually don't think they've lied over (m)any specific details. The only thing which matters though, rightly or wrong, is the money each guy brings to the table. Al those things, heavyweight experience, success, legitimacy, titles, dominance - They ultimately mean nothing when negotiations start. If Tyson came back now, had a few easy fights, became a star again, you can guarantee he'd get over 50% against either Klitschko. It's wrong, I know, but that's boxing. It's interesting because if K2 are insistent that Haye wants no part of Vitali, why not test that? Why not call him out, say "I'll accept the same deal my brother had" and then if Haye did ***** out, they'd be proven right. If they think he won't fight them, why not do that, just to wind up a guy who has annoyed them so much? I did want to bump this thread because of Wlad's recent interview where he said he doesn't need a tune up, so let me ask one more question: Was Haye/Wlad worth falling apart over, because of Wlad/Chisora? Would it not be better to adjust the dates of the two fights, if Wlad doesn't need a tune up but still wants to fight Chisora, knowing full well that Haye was bothered and wouldn't fight on July 2nd?
:good Spot on he has just exposed himself. You know what there answers will be, ''well hes a man of his word blah blah blah''
First of all, he won't fight both brothers for one simple reason that he has a slim chance to get through one. If he loses he retires immediately because it takes time to rebuild. He fights Chagaev he has a chance to fight twice before retiring. 3 fights per year is not much to ask. If Sky cannot accommodate that for Haye then he's got a crappy contract on his hands. Why Wlad should be inactive because Haye cannot fight more than twice a year? Yes, I read that too but there is no indication that Haye had a venue lined up. He just said that *he* was available.
Americans have a notoriously short attention span. I think it would be fine. I think Wlad has final say on the venue, despite revenues. He is the man to beat, so its his call. Haye and Booth are not reliable sources. As for Vitali, just saw this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ot...id-Haye-Vitali-opts-fight-Odlanier-Solis.html I think the real question is, who is going to take on this guy: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbFTp-7SkPQ[/ame]
