Undefeated- Floyd Mayweather, Jr vs Ricky Hatton (December 8th, 2007)

One of the most special fights in the modern era. A fight between two undefeated fighters in their primes.

38-0 (Floyd Mayweather #1 p4p fighter, WW champ, 5 weight world champion)

43-0 (Ricky Hatton, lineal champ at 140 lb, former WW champ, 2 weight world champ)

2 fighters with distinctively different personalities. The American boxer vs the British Bulldog.

Produced a great rivalry and of course, the best/most memorable 24/7 series of all time. Don't think this can be disputed.

The weigh in was also stunning (Was there myself), the atmosphere was beyond electric. Crazy stuff by these two men.

Fight was also beautiful to watch. Floyd fought in the phone booth (on the inside) and managed to outmuscle/out fight Hatton there. Was very surprising, Floyd showed that he was clearly the better man in the fight

He showcased his brilliance on the outside as well, being able to defend well and pinpoint Hatton with his accurate right hands again and again throughout the fight. This is what it means to be a complete fighter. Floyd was a very complete fighter that night. Showed us everything in his bag of boxing tricks/techniques. INCLUDING his jab which he demonstrated in the 9th round, connecting on 11/15 of them. It was a pleasure to watch.

Official scores. 89-81, 89-81, 88-2. It was close to a shutout.

And of course, one of the best finishing left hooks in boxing history was displayed in this fight. Floyd's check left hook, absolutely brilliant.

It was a spirited effort by Hatton and he brought out Floyd's best game that night. I think he can be proud of that. Floyd was forced to fight that night. Both men fought their hearts out.

Still, most memorable fight to me.

Was a very good win. He fought Hatton's fight and beat him at it.

I do think the scores should have been at least a round or two closer at time of stoppage.

I did not like it when the Brits were booing the American anthem.

It was quite classless but I do realize that it was only a certain group of them.

Great stuff by both men that night.

    Brilliant night of boxing.

One to be remembered for decades/centuries to come.

Floyd beating an undefeated Hatton is a much much better win than Pacquiao/Hatton in 2009.

Hatton had already started to decline badly after the Mayweather fight.

He claimed that he could no longer take hard punches afterwards.

Every punch felt like it was going to knock him out.

I feel very bad for him.

Floyd ended his career I think on this fateful day 7 years ago.

It's almost sad thinking about it.

Always remember this. Hatton attracted the beer swilling scum bags on mass.

Great win for Floyd. He destroyed Hatton's heart then knocked him the **** out.

If the best win PBF has is fighting a 140lb'er at 147 then that shows that his resume is mainly smoke and mirrors.

But we already knew that PBF's earlier work was exceptional, later on he stopped taking risky fights.

Hatton already started to decline before the Mayweather fight, it was less than 2 years later and Hatton was coming off of back to back wins against Lazcano, and Malignaggi. Fact. Floyd TKO 10, Pac KTFO 2. :deal

This will always be the most special fight in my heart.

    Being there and everything.

I'm never going to forget this.

This is what made me love the sport. Everything about Undefeated was just spectacular.

He could no longer take hard punches.

Hatton was in his prime when he met up vs Mayweather.

He was just outclassed thoroughly from beginning to end.

On my scorecard, he didn't win a round. The two judges gave him the 5th but in my opinion, ineffective aggression doesn't win you a round. Floyd still connected with the harder punches in the 5th even though Hatton bulled him to the ropes.
