Wow! This makes me feel old. I wasn't alive in 51' but when I was younger I remember watching this fight with my dad on ESPN classic. He was a big fan of both Lamotta and Robinson and use to to tell stories about how he had to listen to a lot of the great fights like this one on the radio because his family was too poor to afford a TV. Lamotta, Robinson and my dad are all gone but the memory of watching that fight and hearing my dad tell stories about boxing from when he was a kid will be with me forever. Anyway, Happy St. Valentine's Day Massacre to all!
I can relate to those memories and they bring back conversations, little moments that stay alive in us. For me it was my uncle. Different sports but he would tell me about Jerry West. How nobody could stop him. Then it was Koufax amd all the things he did. Its weird now because my uncle is gone but his two idols are still here.
That is great man. Excellent post of the memory. Never get enough of Jakes ability in this fight. His skills are sooooo underrated.
