I'm not "outright" picking anyone. But there's no way this fight should be written off as a forgone conclusion. There's simply no basis for it.

Actually, I thought we both set forth reasonable arguments on page 3 or 4, or thereabouts, and acknowledged the reasoning of the opposing argument. I can't see Tyson winning, though I understand how he might.

Obviously the level of debate has nose-dived since then.

Not a foregone conclusion but I'd very much expect Foreman to win.

And that could happen. I'm just open to other possibilities.

You folk keep going on about Foreman getting dropped by Lyle but it was Tyson that was KTFO on numerous occasions not Foreman.

Maybe if he had fought more than four top rank fighters in the 70's things might have been different :good

Still I suppose beating drug addicts and pensioners is a better route to take....

Foreman was out for 15 months and rusty as hell for Lyle. With new trainer Clancy, George looked unsure against Lyle and fought like a zombie and took a wicked right hand right on the money. George then kept looking over at Clancy, trying to figure what to do next. Foreman just didn't seem at all comfortable in his first "real" fight back since Ali.
George still knocked out Lyle. A couple years earlier and Lyle would have been out of there in two. Oh, and by the way, had the bell not sounded a minute early for round two in the actual fight, Lyle might have been KTFO then and there instead of being stopped in the fifth.

Your argument that Tyson's quality of wins during his 80's prime was low is not supported. He beat every top contender/champ. of his era except Witherspoon, and he beat the guy who beat Witherspoon (Bonecrusher Smith). He didn't beat Douglas, but he beat the guy who beat him (Tucker). He would have fought both Witherspoon and Douglas in '87 but they lost before he could fight them.

Tyson was stopped once between 1985-1996.

And that was by the greatest of all time. There is absolutely no shame in losing to Ali.

Lol and you're the most unbiased neutral poster on here. A lot of you (especially you) think Tyson was God. Sure at his prime he was something to behold but he wouldn't be able to hold his own against Foreman. Sorry.

Yes, you actually have a well constructed argument to state your case. I can't say the same for others backing Foreman. :good

Yes because my ideas of Foreman manhandling Tyson around, putting him on the back foot and taking him apart a pure fantasy.... :rofl:rofl
