You go on about Foremans chin but Tyson was rocked by Smith in the last round, staggered by Bruno. Hurt numerous times by Douglas prioer to the knockout, his chin was far from impregnable. You're also underestimating his handspeed, go watch the Frazier fight again. He is in devastating form, fast, accurate and deadly. His strength would be a huge factor, Tyson welcomed clinches and would be manhandled, he'd be pushed and pulled into position and would be taken apart by those short, devastating uppercuts.
Big George ram rod jab then thunderous punches take Tyson out, he can not fight backing up and George would back him and out of the ring
Mike Tyson Prime was a better fighter than George Foreman Prime. He made better use of his tools and power. However, Prime Foreman would have won had they fought. Here’s why. . While Tyson made better use of his tools, this is only because Foreman made such poor use of his. He had natural power, which beats manufactured power any day. For example, look at Ken Norton's body then look at Foreman's and tell me who punched harder. Norton had manufactured power. . Had **** Saddler ever taught Foreman how to use his power, he would never have lost the Rumble in the Jungle. ALI was on another level that night but he was clearly past his prime. . People make much of Tyson's head movement and style and use of his speed. However, again, the only reason Tyson looks good in this case is because Foreman made even less use of his power. The truth is that, even during his prime, if Tyson didn't get you out of there in a few rounds, he became a one dimensional banger, throwing one punch at a time. His combination punching ended before the middle rounds. . Tyson would use his speed and score a knockdown early. However, he would fail to keep Foreman down. For all his lack of skill, George took a punch very well. He also had a huge heart. Ask Ron Lyle. . Mike Tyson also had a big heart and hard chin. Take a look at Ruddock 2 if you're still not convinced. The difference is that both men would fall before round 4. Again, no Frazier here. Tyson has the speed to reach George. Frazier didn't. Also, most don't realize that Frazier was nowhere near his best when he lost to Foreman. . The problem Tyson faces is that Foreman would get up one time more than he would. Foreman would be more stunned than hurt. Tyson would go in for the finish and run into a solid uppercut. Both fighters would visit the canvas before the end of round two. . Round 3 would be much the same except that Tyson would be throwing fewer punches by the end of the round. The difference here is that Foreman never becomes discouraged. Tyson does. In round 4, Foreman begins to back Tyson up. The stories about Foreman’s stamina are a bit exaggerated because of his loss to Muhammad ALI. Both are throwing slower punchers but landing harder. In round 5 Foreman again works Tyson to a corner and begins to measure him with jabs and rights. Tyson throws a hook but comes up short. Foreman answers with an uppercut and Tyson goes down again. Mike is up on shaky legs. Foreman works him to the corner again and lands another brutal uppercut. Tyson doesn’t go down but he’s trapped in the corner. Foreman hurts him with a right-uppercut combination. He then opens up and unloads another combination. The referee steps in just as Tyson sinks to the canvas. Foreman by KO in 5
Too much about the Lyle fight. Foreman hadn't been fighting for a long time at that point and was rusty as hell. He still knocked Lyle out.
Tyson's defense was great but it wasn't on Frazier's level, it only appeared so, because Frazier faced much faster and more accurate punchers.
big George takes him out after a titanic early struggle in which we see the G decked for the first time in his career.
First off Foreman lost because of the rope a dope, it had almost nothing to do with his hand speed. Tyson was scared in the ring a lot of people who stood up to him. Imagine him stepping in the ring with Big George. 1973 Foreman would NEVER fight on the back foot. He only did it to Lyle because he was rusty and underestimating his own power. Also, the Douglas fight is irrelevant because Tokyo Douglas's opponent was a joke impersonating Iron Mike. No way Douglas would pull something like that on a 1987-1988 Tyson.
And both guys that dropped him were fairly light punchers - Ali and Young. In his first incarnation, Foreman gassed after a few rounds. If Tyson can survive the first few rounds, he has a good shot.
