How is fighting good competition a mistake? Mosely is not going up in weight. PW is willing to come back down to WW to take him on.

I respect Mosely for taking on Wright and Forrest twice. It showed that he's got balls and is willing to take on the best. Mosely is the current WW champ and he should take on any challengers that have proved themselves such as PW. Especially if they are willing to come down an meet him at his weight class.

Berto should except, If he can get passed Mosley...
This would be a launching pad to huge paydays.

Considering the the same report indicated that Berto made more than 750k in each of his last 2 bouts, I'd say the offer is indeed somewhat offending. Mosley is not only the biggest name Berto will have ever faced, he's also the biggest threat and thus with higher stakes on the line he is well within his rights to seek higher compensation. The report is HBO is willing to put up 3 mil. Berto should at least be offered 1 mill if team Mosley is serious about making this fight.

Its not a lowball offer at all. Berto is getting the chance to put his name out there against a future hall of famer he should be glad that Mosley and GBP offered a matchup with him! Andre Berto is a good fighter but he's definately not ready for a Shane Mosley, and I think this is just a stay busy fight for Shane until he can get that big money fight he's been chasing since January

Berto is just trying to hustle for more but this shows how much HBO is messing up the game by giving fighters much more than they should. Berto and Mosley will be a ticket bust if held in a place than seats 4000+. Nobody goes to a Mosley fight.

I was thinking the fight at any venue would be a ticket bust but lots of people will watch it based on Mosley's last performance and now hes fighting a young champ which brings a lot of interest but will it sell a lot of tickets? I doubt it good point

Boxing is like a 8th tier sport. And America is more of a TV culture so we rather watch from home or in a bar. We have baseball, basketball, nfl, hockey etc etc that all get so much support and money that is crazy. Terrell Ug Mug Suggs just got a 63 million dollar contract for the Ravens and that is the most for a linebacker in NFL history. Its a reason that NBA players get a million a year for riding the bench.

What if I said that the split Mosley is looking for is 75/25 in his favor: Would that change things?

He shouldn't take it, not only he's not making alot of money(compared to what he can make in the future), Mosley will KO his ass and it could be a carrier ending KO.

The only joke here are posts like this. Might want to check out Mosley's career, pretty much the definition of a fighter with balls. Mosley has fought the current ranked #2, #4, and #7 ranked welterweights and is attempting to fight #3 and #5 after failed attempts to get bigger money fights. Sounds like he is doing the exact things fans always complain about.. fighting the top fighters in HIS division.

No one should need to defend Mosley not fighting Paul Williams, his career already does that for him. Let's have Paul Williams actually campaign at welterweight (his last 3 fights were at 154 and 160) before we start talking about how everyone is ducking him there.

It's a great offer. Berto hasn't done more than some other fighters who have bigger followings who get paid less.

No that isn't a lowball offer, Berto is just a weak ass ***** looking for an excuse out of a fight with a real top tier WW.

Definitely not a lowball offer. Also, if Berto wins he can make a name off of beating Mosley. If Berto turns this down, it won't be because of the dollars involved.

That said, Mosley stops Berto. At least an 80% chance of this happening.
