800K is believable to me. Alot of people i know were hyped for this fight and bought it. Conversely almost no one i know is asking me if i'll be hosting the mayweather fight. i still think mayweather sells more just cause it's mayweather but the manny v. bradley fight had enough buzz to do 800k imo

Based off what evidence? The only evidence is the fact people hate bob arum and automatically try to discredit everything he does. Kind of weird to me. If we're being real about it both promoters probably fudge numbers. Cause I seriously doubt Floyd vs. Ghost did the numbers they reported and the initial reports for that fight were way low. Either way none of us have any evidence and the networks rarely confirm only the biased promoters, so who knows.

I'm glad we've gotten to a point where anything below 1 million PPV buys for a name fighter looks like a disappointment at first. People would kill for those numbers not too long ago.

 

On the business end with Top Rank these are horrible numbers, example; let's say the fight did 775K for $70 pay per view then that means the fight generated around 50MILL, now deduct the guranteed purses Pacman 25mill and Bradley 5Mill and lets also throw in about 1mill total for the undercard fighters, Top Rank would only see less then 20Mill just from Pay Per View alone. Now let's talk about the gate, I think the gate brought in about 7Mill now we must deduct for Pacman and Bradley because they will see some of the profit from the gate, let's say around 2million total for the fighters together and remember I believe MGM takes some of the profit to from the Gate this is where MGM makes some of their money when hosting these events, so I would think MGM would see at least a quarter of the fights earnings from the gate. So when you total everything up, Top Rank walks away with about $20-25 Mill max which means they lost about $10-15mill after everything is said and done.

If you compare this to Mayweather vs Guerrero which barely cracked 1mill but did eventually do it which means the fight made atleast $70mill from pay per view and the gate brought in $9.9mill; if notice already May vs Ghost brought in $80mill total already. Now Mayweather was guaranteed $32mill and Robert was guaranteed $3mill which puts us at $35mill total for purses and for the undercards I would say the fighters made a total of roughly about $3mill (Garcia vs Mattysse etc...) so now we're at $38mill. Now remember the fight grossed nearly $80mill and Goldenboy/Showtime spent $38mill(round it to $40mill) which means Showtime/Goldenboy broke even and may have made a couple more dollars off the top.

This is why Top Rank and Golden Boy have to come together and end this feud because Top Rank has been losing money for the past couple years now and Golden Boy has been making money but if Golden Boy doesn't get their act together the same thing can happen to them sooner then what we think.
