8-0 Kubrat Pulev is facing Dominick Guinn on Saturday

    Kubrat Pulev is on a fast track, and not just compared to the slow fat HWs he's getting past, but because at 29, he's holding nothing back. He knocked out Matt Skelton in his 5th fight, and next up for the 6′ 4½″ Bulgarian technician is Dominick Guinn, once top contender with wins over Michael Grant, Audley Harrion and others, but just couldn't make it. He's having his 2nd best run lately however, he's 5-0 and stopped Jean Francios Bergeron who went 12 with Valuev. Guinn is 35yo and is 33-6 with no stoppage loss. The fight is scheduled for 8 rounds, no catchweight or rehydration clause.

    SNV/Bergeron was an abhorrent bloodbath. Sugar got the undefeated, ATG potential Bergeron and ruined him in a distance fight that had it not been for Sugar's then newly found Buddhist leanings, would have ended in a highlight reel kayo. Instead, contrary to what he'd tried to accomplish, he actually damaged Bergeron far beyond what a knockout would have done. The sustained beating was legendary and right up there with that of Cobb/Holmes. Anyway, I can't give Guinn much credit for beating such a terribly ruined fighter. But, good match-up anyway, Bone.

    Wow, surprisingly good fight, a HW contender fight that could be worth checking out. I had heard about Pulev but hadn't been following his progress. I'll be tuning in for this one, hopefully Pulev can deliver and continue up to add some excitement to the division.

    This guy is a beast, and he is on a super-fast track. Hopefully he fights a top 10 contender within his next 3 fights or so so we can have a worthy challenger to Wlad.

    I'm very happy indeed with Pulev's progress. I wish more standout amateurs would go for the jugular in their pro careers.

    This is a showcase opportunity for Pulev. Look for him to dominate in a signature win, possibly with the added flourish of being the first to knock Guinn out.
