    When was the 1st time both the mandatory 8 count rule and 3 knockdowns in 1 round terminating the bout was used in a Championship match? Who were the boxers?

    Let's see. I believe that the three knockdown rule was in effect for non-championship bouts before it was in for championship bouts -at least in NY. It was expanded to championship bouts after Griffith-Paret in the 60s. The standing eight is older.

    I'll offer an educated guess. Ali-Frazier I.
