There was an NBA player a year or two ago who went out of bounds during play and jumped about twenty feet over like five sitting spectators to land on a bench, turn and jump back. I ran a search but all I could find were things like Kobe Bryant fighting with people in the stands. This guy was like a freaking kangeroo. That was like an Olympic level long jump and the guy just did it casually by accident. It's like those 6'8" 300 lb NFL players that can sprint across a field like Usain Bolt in the 100 yard dash. I'm no football fan but even I'm impressed when a guy gets the ball and will jump over grown men in the line of scrimmage like he's playing hurdles. Compared to some of these super stars, rugby players just look like ordinary dudes.

Jeff Fenech played rugby. So did Anthony Mundine. If those guys tried to play ONE DRIVE in the NFL, they'd get broken in two. They're simply too small and weak.

And there have been HUNDREDS of Olympians (summer and winter) who have played college or pro football in the U.S. Including track stars, sprinters, long jumpers, decathletes, shot putters, wrestlers ... you name them. And that includes Jim Thorpe, who was often considered the best athlete of the 20th century.

Most of the top wide receivers in the NFL were also the top collegiate track stars on their college teams.

James Jett (who played wide receiver in the NFL) was on the 1992 Olympic relay team with Carl Lewis and was faster than Lewis.

    Just so you know.

Let's just have a look at their purse history though.

    Danny Garcia
    1,250,000 Malignaggi
    1,500,000 Peterson
    700,000 Salka
    1,500,000 Matthysse
    1,250,000 Judah
    1,000,000 Morales II
    225,000 Morales I
    520,000 Khan
    75,000 Holt

I couldn't find the Herrera purse but without it it looks like Garcia has made a tad over 8 million dollars in his career, so unless he made 2 million for Herrera, which is unlikely, he didn't crack 8 figures.

    Andre Berto:
    4,000,000 Mayweather
    800.000 Lopez
    400,000 Upsher
    910,000 Freddy Hernandez
    1,625,000 Robert Guerrero
    ~1,250,000 Ortiz
    472,500 Collazo

Wow, it looks like Mayweather did put Berto into 8 figures.

    Winky Wright
    750k Mosley I
    2 mil Mosley II
    4 mil Trinidad
    1.9 Sam Soliman
    4 mil Jermain Taylor
    ? Hopkins
    ? Williams

I had no idea Winky was drawing that kind of money against Trinidad and Taylor. I was under the impression that he hadn't made much in his career since everyone avoided him for years, but the last few years were definitely lucrative. I'm not even going to run Taylor's numbers now that I see he got 5 million for fighting Wright.

Between Pavliks Hopkins and Martinez fights he put 5.5 mil on the table so I guess there's no point looking up any more there.

Danny Green is pretty popular in Australia. I think he might have cracked ten million dollars.

Most soccer stars are signed to clubs in their young teens so would never get to go to the olympics etc. there have been soccer players timed at 100m who could have made the olympics and they were wearing soccer cleats.
Not sure why you are comparing sports they are different. Nfl players could not run around for 80 mins including many scrums. An yes nfl players are bigger but they are the fat ones . And many rugby wingers are just as fast as nfl wide recievers. You must be very naive and ignorant to think nfl and nba have better so called athletes. The point that nfl players would crush rugby playera as they are stronger ok then pro weightlifters would crush nfl players as they are stronger and pro fighters mma/boxer would batter them

Also include Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Fernando Vargas, Antonio Tarver. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. may well have cracked the $10 million mark. He made close to $5 million combined for just the Martinez-Fonfara bouts. Also, Hasim Rahman made close to $6 million just for the two Lennox Lewis fights.

    Um ... no.

Name all the rugby players who were Olympic track stars.

    Hell, name one.

Because there have been a ton who were NFL wide receivers.

And most of those FAT NFL players are FAT because they purposely add weight. You have to weigh more than 300 pounds to play a lineman on most teams these days. When those guys retire, they often end up losing 50, 60, 70 pounds. They are athletes BEFORE they add the bulk. And most guys on the team aren't fat at all. Just the guys on the line.

Jarron Gilbert was one of those big fat guys (300 pounder).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jarron_Gilbert

He only played a few years in the NFL. But there was a famous video of him jumping OUT of a swimming pool full of water.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXDSPbZ_OUw

You've got to be supremely powerful and athletic to do that. Try it sometime.:good

Again most sports stars are playing their sport at a young age and therefore dont compete in other sports. Nfl players start older and give me all these names of players who competed in an olympics

This guy did it backwards and he was not even good enough to make it in the NFL it just shows you the level of athleticsm you have to have and that still might not be good enough. The best American athletes all play in the NBA or NFL period.

Pretty sure my man Kessler made more than 10 million dollars since 2000 too.
Btw you guys really love to praise your own American sports! Soccer as you call it is far bigger worldwide and Rugby too so naturally some of the best athletes compete in those sports.

So nothing in the modern era. As i said rugby/ soccer players are at a pro team from a young age so how could they compete in the olympics i never said they did. But you can look up times of fastest rugby and soccer players times and its comparable to nfl fastest players

There are a number of rugby players who run 100 m a little over 10 secs
Btw i dont even like rugby but to say nfl and nba are the best athletes lol you have to be trolling. This is a boxing website and boxers have extreme fitness levels and have to watch weight

    That's just it.

Being just a great athlete gets you no where in soccer, maybe it matters more in the NFL or NBA. If Paul Scholes or Xavi grow up in the USA, they probably never make it. Both were incredible world class players.
