It was arguably his best win and one of the best of the last decade.

It was a very good W for Mayweather but it doesn’t carry the full weight of beating a prime Alvarez @ 168lbs. If someone beats him within the next year or two that will be a more impressive victory.

And PBF wasn't prime either, he was 35 and faded. It was a great win and the fight wasn't close.

He was closer to his best than Alvarez was to his imo. Good win, not taking anything away from it but Alvarez is a much better fighter now and is at his optimal fighting weight. If someone beats him in the near future it’ll be regarded as a greater achievement.

In what sport are you closer to your best at 35 than you are 23? Is the 23 year old Bolt closer to his best than the 35 year old one what about the 23 year old Michael Phelps at 23 is closer to his best than the 35 year old one. I'd rather be 23 than 35 going into a boxing match that's for damn sure. Floyd was a much better boxer at 23 than he was at 35.

Floyd was MUCH closer to his prime than Alvarez was. It was rushed because Canelo was already deemed "the next big thing" in boxing and both teams wanted a superfight.

Boxing is a nuanced skill focused sport. High level championship experience and better ring-craft are huge advantages.

This is the same sport where a 43 year old obese Larry Holmes dominated a 30 year old prime Ray Mercer.

You can’t compare it to more basic sports like swimming or track and field where success and failure depend almost entirely on raw athleticism.

Floyd is also a notorious gym rat who stays in shape year round and didn’t take much punishment in his career so his physical capabilities at 35 weren't as diminished than most of his contemporaries at that age.

    I respectfully disagree.
PBF athletically was no where near what he was at 35 than he was at 23. He was a beast at 23 and more complete than at 35 whose legs reflexes and workrate had slowed. I'd take the 23 year old PBF over the 35 year old version 7 days a week. In most cases you will take a 23 year old boxer over a 35 year old one and that's because most boxers are shot or retired by 35. Are there some exceptions yes but they're exceptions not the rule.

No he wasn't no fighter at 35 is closer to their physical prime than 23 that's physically impossible. Look at a 23 year old PBF and then look at the 35 year old version of him. Much slower legs not as bouncy and reflexes not as good even his countering wasn't. The fight could have never been made at the ideal time that was the best they could have done and like I've always said, I'd rather been Canelo going into that fight than PBF.

Floyd at 23 and Canelo at 23 were entirely different in not only terms of their amateur careers, but how they were brought up as pros. Floyd at 23 was much more polished than Canelo was. Canelo didn't have an extensive armature career.

The fight was made because they knew it would make a lot of money and the window was closing. All Canelo did was beat Austin Trout at the time. Same Austin trout who never did much of anything after beating Cotto. You used to cry about how Margarito was never worthy to face Floyd, but Canelo, as 23 with one decent win, was worthy. You can never keep any consistency here because you go all over the place when your angry.

Floyd was still in top shape physically. Hell, you call Floyd SHOT for his fight w/ Pac. I don't think you know how to judge floyd. You're too invested in to him. Besides, in case you don't understand, I was talking about Canelo in this matter.
