Larry would have outjabbed him and stopped Rocky in about 6 rounds.

I do know that Marciano with his bob and weave approach ate a shitload of 37 year old Joe Louis' hammer in 1951 and was swollen and cut by Louis during the 8 rds fought....

If a faded Louis could still tag Marciano with the hammer, so could peak Holmes...

While I know Louis of '51 trained hard and was in good condition for Rocco by weighing 213 pounds, Louis was still slow on his feet and his reflexes dulled in that fight.... Louis was strong, but plodding forward giving and taking all the way until he got nailed by the sneaky hook from Marciano that led to Louis' doom in rd. 8....

10-4... Critics can say this and that about Weaver as a fighter, but he was trained and buffed when he challenged Holmes for the title in '79 New York....... It 'tis a good fight to review.... I know...

Marciano's defense, while underrated(He wasn't wide open or face first, he had D) is not at all stellar, just functional. I see a great heavyweight with some speed of hand having no trouble at all landing on him regularly. Holmes would light him up.

Agreed........ My guess and pick is after rd. 10 Marciano is a gross looking gargoyle of gory flesh in his mug...... The ref looks onward seeking to halt the show as soon as Marciano wobbles or stumbles....... HOLMES!!!

I imagine the fight would go the distance.
Holmes might win the decision but he'd never be the same again afterwards.

I also feel, like several other posters, that its Holmes who is all wrong for Rocco, and R.M. would never be the same again........

Yeah, of course Rocky was no good, his 49-0 attests to that

One thing is for sure people...Marciano is going the distance. You would have to put a bullet in his head to keep him from reaching the final bell.

I think people are underrating Marciano's right hand. It is one of the best ever..and holmes showed the inability to fix his right hand weakness his whole career. It's a dangerous punch in this fight for Holmes.

I think this fight is a 50-50, Holmes jab size speed and skills would give rocky huge problems...but on the flipside rocky's right hand, pressure, and stamina would allow him to force holmes into exchanges and holmes had a problem of loving to brawl when hurt. Holmes the advantage early, rocky the advantage late. In fairness to holmes, he had a huge heart and would never back down against Rocky late.

This one would be a war

You can't go the distance if you are sliced and diced and leaking all over the ring..... The ref will halt the contest..... Marciano was a bleeder.... Okay, yes, he had a good cutman and also had some luck too, but against a razor sharp Holmes, I sense "The Rock" gets TKO'd after 10 heated rds....
