This idea that Marciano would lose by cuts is strange considering it never happened to him in 49 fights :huh

agree, Larry would be roughed up ala Don Cockell, Rocco's inside work and primeval fighting instincts would bring a serios grief down on Larry, once inside the jab, Larry would be looking for the referee for salvation.

In ring history so far...Marciano is overrated, Holmes is underrated.

Imo, I really think Holmes would start out cautious in the beginning and find during the course of the fight that he can open up and Rocky , though tough, could not stop the onslaught of multiple jabs and right hands reigning over the smallish heavyweight.
Also I can envision Larry straightening up the constantly bobbing rocky with a series of hellacious uppercuts.

Not too tough a fight I think for Larry.

Agree except Holmes isnt KOing the Rock. I dont think he would be stupid enough to give Marciano the chance to send Holmes to ***** St. Holmes once said Marciano wasnt fit to hold his jock strap. I think he would feel differently after he fought Rocky. In the end, i believe Larry is generally underrated and would probably get the decision, but it would be a tough fight.

Btw i am a Marciano fan.

Larry is too big and too good.

    Marciano belongs in the cruisers.

I laughed out loud when I read that. Marciano is not an easy fight for ANYONE in history. Larry thinks Mike Weaver, Ken Norton, and Tim Witherspoon are tough? he better be ready to go to war against Marciano

Eddie Futch rated Marciano in the top four, that is good enough for me.

He would have jabbed the Rock to the floor? Please? The Rock was never ever stopped, hardly seriously hurt. He came to fight in every single fight he fought. How the hell is being outjabbed going to stop him.

Sure if you said Holmes big uppercuts would get through the defence, there may be a chance of stoppage, but his jab?

Your conclusion does not follow from your premise.

Marciano is so under rated by those who haven't truly studied him and tale of the tape fools.

Guys a monster. Hell, just listen to Frazier talk about him.

Agreed, forgot to mention, the more these guys fought, the more Rocky would win. If they had a trilogy, i wouldnt be surprised if Holmes was stopped early in thr third fight. Rocky is a career ending fight.

Larry was flabby , Rocky hard as nails , with incredible confidence to win would overcome any skill deficiencies, there is more to fighting than skill, with Rocky it was life or death.

From the top of my head,Louis, Johnson, can't think and Marciano. The context of the article was how Tyson would have gone against the atgs, Futch said Marciano would deliver serious harm on Tyson.
