80s/90s George Foreman vs Prime Mike Tyson

Tyson could only dream about seeing round 12 against moderate puncher Holyfield, nevermind seeing the final bell.
He only managed 37 seconds of round 11.
Tyson wasn't even a durable heavy bag. Holyfield beat the stuffing out of him.

That was punch drunk pensioner Holyfield as well, just imagine what the prime version who fought Foreman would have done to Tyson.

Now I know why Mike faked a rib injury.......

 

42 year old Foreman did better against a 28 year old Holyfield ..... than ..... 30 year old Tyson did against a 34 year old Holyfield.
Foreman faced an undefeated prime Holyfield.
Tyson faced the worn-out Holyfield who'd lost 3 times and been retired once or twice already.

Foreman's performance against Holyfield seems like a strange fight example for a Tyson worshipper to bring up to criticize Foreman.

 

The first fight Ruddock was constantly backing off which George would not do and was significantly faster than old Foreman and even then he took a lot of punishment.

 

I think George was strong enough to take enough of Mike's punches to land something back and Mike would be backing up. If George punches especially with the uppercut he would land it. I don't think Mike backs George up to the ropes. Either way I don't think this fight goes even 4 rounds.

 

To quote George on his comeback: '" anyone who thinks Mike Tyson can beat George Foreman is insane" ….and Tyson wasn't insane either.

 

Yeah but anyone who quotes anything old man Foreman says as being the gospel truth is also insane.

 

That's actually a fair way at looking at it. Replies like this are perfect examples of why you should be wary of overly slagging off a certain fighter to try and strengthen your case for another. People get caught out all the time.
