I'd say definately Witherspoon, he had tremendous skills .. I'd also mention Dokes too, he was sensational against Holyfield with those beautiful short arm hooks, what a fight that was !!

In addition to Tim Witherspoon, I think Mike Weaver is getting sold a bit short here.

I thought Thomas was the best of that bunch, followed by Page and Witherspoon.

Witherpsoon had very good skills across the board, size, power, skills on offense and defense, and the ability to take a punch.

Witherspoon was an excellent boxer. I loved watching him come so close with Larry Holmes. It makes me wonder how he would have held up, had he stayed in peak condition?

Also Mike Weaver does need a mention. He was another one of those men that gave Holmes a good scrap for his belt.

if were going off pure potential ive gotta go with tubbs for his FANTASTIC skills. had he been more disciplined and got some weight off he could have rattled quite a few cages in that era..

I wonder if i sent Chrissie Pontius some Page DVD's would he compile a lil youtube for me. Page had frightening potential, the best of his era.

they were good fighters and if drugs/lavish lifestyle etc were not around some of them would have been great...and others would have been very good/almost great...

Page for the raw potential un realised is the number 1 of the era, definately. His drug problems destroyed his career. All sports are littered though with men who fail to realise potential. Its a shame but its life. What makes the real champions is those who are able to show consistent dedication and discipline to reach their goals consistently.

Terrible Tim, Tony Tucker and Pinky Thomas were the best of the group. All of them could of been very, very dangerous for the big two of the era had they been at their best.

Carl Williams had a lot going for him, he was multi talented but had a sketchy chin, apart from that chin he was the package for a while, he came close against Holmes ...
