sickening. how this **** is allowed to continue in boxing- and actually seems to be getting worse- is beyond me. the judges should be held accountable for what would've been an inexcusable robbery. and lets face it, no matter what unrest ensues after a decision like that the decision still stands and all the record books read is the outcome of the fight. why is such a high profile, high profit sport still in the dark ages in so many ways?
Holy ****! :scaredas: Did they reinstate the 3 judges from Lara vs Williams for this bout or something. Or perhaps a day early ode to Roger Tilleman who passed yesterday?!? atsch
Salido ain't no Mormeck :deal Just glad he scored the KO and didn't get robbed. I knew that KO was coming after Juanma shot his load in the 9th. He was done.
i got a friend who's a casual fan and i told him before the 9th round "don't be surprised if Lopez takes a decision" he looked at me like i was crazy than i remember after the stoppage they showed these scored and i was just like "told you so". he obviously hasn't been watching boxing long enough lol.
Absolutely shocking scorecards. Can't say im surprised, judges seem to get worse and worse. What it will do eventually is deprive us of the fights the community wants to see, just generally degrades the sport... I really don't understand the calls for a trilogy. I had Salido pretty much winning a shutout (with the exception of the KD), Juanma just got brutalised from start to finish. Was a very entertaining fight but I think we could safely assume that Salido would make it 3-0. Salido has good heart but I think we're exaggerating here if we say he's the no.1 lightweight. He beat Juanma in a Gatti/Ward style matchup, but I think someone with the speed and technique of Broner would undo him. Juanma just didn't seem to have any kind of consistent defence and from the very start, you could see he just wasn't as hungry for the win as Salido.
How ****ing sad is it that you can identify a boxing noob by their naivete about corrupt officiating? :-(
I have the same experience with a friend when watched Lara vs PW After that fight, I'll believe anything
Lopez scored a valid knockdown for sure, but Salido had dominated the round up to this point. A competent judge will give a round that has been dominated by fighter A but fighter B scored a surprising knockdown 10 to 9 in favour of fighter B. Read: the knowndown round shouldn't be scored 10 to 8 but 10 to 9. This makes it even more puzzling how you can score the fight in favour of Lopez after the 9th. Not sure if this is actually more funny than it's sad. The right guy won in the end and I really had to laugh when JuanMa came up with his delusional gambling accusations against the referee. Glad that Salido took the fight, he's a warrior!
Boxing robberies right now are so common and bad that it wouldn't surprise in the slighest if the guy won all 12 rounds absolutely lopsidedly and still get robbed, honestly it has come to a point where you actually think there's a bigger chance of a robbery happening than the normal decision.
Lara vs. Williams and Chisora vs. Helenius weren't quite that - but they were almost that. Had Lopez survived another 2.5 rounds, this would have been just shy of that (but for the 5th round).
Yep, I saw the Cloud vs. Campillo decision coming from a mile. I predicted it weeks prior to the fight.
Indeed, instead of actually thinking "Good, he won the fight, amazing performance" you are praying to yourself that perhaps on an off chance it's a fair decision and he doesn't get robbed.
