The more I've thought about this match up over the years,the more I favour Frazier. Joe weathers a very painful early storm,and wears Tyson down.......and out !!!
Tyson woudl beat Frazier everday of the week. Im not hating on Joe, but the guys who beat Tyson , did not do so by standing in front of him and trading Anyone who trades with tyson will get taken out, simple. Unless your bigger and stronger (Foreman/Liston)
This is the key to this matchup...can Joe evade the uppercut or would he continually run into it like he did against Foreman? Tyson usually set up his right uppercuts with a right hook to the body and I see Frazier timing this setup hook and firing his own shorter, sharper hook( followed by a right uppercut and another left hook later in the fight) before Mike has a chance to land the vaunted uppercut. Remember that Tyson was not in Frazier's class as an infighter so he would get frustrated pretty quickly by his inability to land the only punch that would be decisive for him.
Foreman would proper brutally KO1 Tinkerbell with uppercuts from hell, But i already proved "Lummox" Liston has a fragile jaw, so Tyson probably caps that ass in a shoot-out. And lets face it, 6'1 (or 6 foot and a half inch), 212LBS (best prime weight vs Crude Cleve Williams) And a real non-exaggerated reach of 80inches (measured in teh Leotis Martin fight, And this makes a lot of sense, as his reach was NOT LONGER than Ali's, as we can see from video And pictorial evidence) is not massively bigger then 5'10, 221LBS (best prime weight from "Trippy Trev" Berbick fight) And 71inch reach. Proper XPERT-post m8!deal Smokey Joe would run through Tinkerbell's best combos of nukes like a crazy nucca. IMO teh 1st half of this fight is 50/50 even war of swarmer VS short-slugger, AKA an attrition-fighter who heats-up to boiling point VS a front-runner who cools-down And gasses before he collapses. For them 1st 6 Rounds, half are spent with Tinkerbell terribly trashing Smoke @mid-range, And half are spent with Smoke seriously smothering Tinkerbell up-close in teh tough trenches. Both guys get proper swollen faces, with their eyes cruelly closing, as Bummy Douglas And Muhammad Ali showed their weakness to swelling when absorbing brutal beatings. Smoke might get caught early while Tinkerbell is ****-hot and get dropped once or twice if unlucky, But he will keep coming forward and rattling his ribs. Tinkerbell has ribs what can be broken by big body punches, Razza Ruddock proved this weakness, when he broke 2 in fight 2. So when it gets to like round 7, Smoke starts to beat teh living **** outta a gassed Tinkerbell, like OG Holyfield was doing in teh 11th Round. On the inside Tyson wasnt that effective? Makes me wonder what people watch and understand on this board. How many guys did Tyson take apart on the inside with uppercuts and short hooks? A good majority of his knockouts either were the result of or a start from a big shot landed on the inside. Tyson was a very capable infighter and if he stood with any version of Frazier, Joe would be looking up at the lights.
Hugging-dependency could completetly neutralize Tyson's offenzive work @close-range, And he would choose to rest with his own clinching or his oppentents, But Frazier NEVER needed to rest, And would not let Tyson catch his breath. What i do mean by this fact is when Tyson tries to clinch, Frazier will make him wince, with a short-lefthook to teh kidneys. :!:
Frazier's head movement worked better against Ali's jabs and right hands than it would against Tyson's uppercuts and hooks. This fight would play out much like Tyson's fight against Marvis Frazier. Joe, being tougher than Marvis, would get further into the first round and maybe even into the early part of the second. There were things that some fighters did to frustrate Tyson and get him out of his game but Frazier doesn't do any of those things. He liked to fight and trade punches and he'd be doing it with a faster, more explosive, two-handed puncher.
Tyson would apply the same logic he did with Marvis. I know their totally different fighters, but the style was the same/similar. Joe did try to mold Marvis like him. Tyson said something to the effect when you jab, he bows down, when he bows im going to catch him with an uppercut. He would do the same thing to Joe.
But Marvis "Fragile" Frazier was only a journeyman, his best wins were Old "BugBear" Bugner, Quick Tillis, Jose "Scarface" Ribalta, and "Boneclincher" Smith. You cannot compare a journeyman to Smoke, what a joke. nono Cheers Stevie m8. :thumbsup
