Take the 1988 version of Iron Mike Tyson, drop him into the current Heavyweight scene, what happens? :think
this today's heavyweight compare to 80's tyson is like slowmotion, I really mean it literally. even early 90's Tyson that fought ruddock would still slays unless you consider, tony tucker, holmes, bebrick, bruno, ruddock, spinks, pinklon thomas are all bums, 80's tyson = overkill
the only guy that would have a chance is Vitali if he could get through the first few rounds and get the jab working
80's tyson that still trained under amato and rooney could fight well for 12 rounds. Like the fight against Tucker although Tucker just held on in most occassion but that version of Tyson isnt going to run out of gas within 6 rounds. Even in early 90 against Ruddock, Tyson still swinging wild in late rounds! dont forget Klitchko last 6 rounds against Lewis while completely faded tyson still last 8 rounds despite taking lots of punishing shots.
(1) in all such types of threads , it is always prime vs. not prime (2) under the situation described in (#1) , i think tyson will be dangerous to wlad whom he may still be able to land on , but against vitali , think about this : james smith and tony tucker took him the 12 rounds distance. mitch green and james tillis took him over the full 10. so why will he be able to stop vitali ? vitali was never even close to being KO'd as a pro. and he is harder to hit than these fighters and is more skilled and durable. and even hits harder than them. (3) regarding everyone at 6'5" and below , i guess tyson destroys them as was said. and that is assuming we speak about the current worn versions of tua and mccall. (4) i am of the minority who believe a prime tyson would have stopped a prime holyfield , not that this is the case in this question
lennox lewis punch harder than vitaly could ever dream, think of 80's tyson who basically will make vitally looks like slowmotion replay.
Because Vitali never showed he could even hold on the inside like Tucker and Smith did. Vitali would be knocked out, just not as quickly as Wlad.
I like this point a lot. I'd give Wlad a good chance too. Say what you want about that chin of his but his defense foot work and jab are astounding.
