    Tim Conn, Billy's oldest son, will tell you to this day the story of being a lad back in the 1940's listening to the old Pittsburgh crowd, Milt Jaffee in particular, recollecting the decision being announced in favor of messers Gene Tunney in his fabled rematch with Harry Greb and the shock and disbelief that went through all of them.

    Lest we forget...When we talk about Gene Tunney/ Harry Greb #2, we forget we are talking about Tunney,about 174 pounds,at his LH peak against a !63 pound Harry Greb,on the downside in 1923..About 12-13 lbs difference...To put this in a modern perspective,picture Hagler at 162 pounds tackling michael Spinks, or Archie Moore @ 174 pounds ?Harry Greb ,whatever his place in history was a one of a kind marvel, whose likes we can never see again !!

    You got that right, Burt! Good analogy about Hagler vs. Spinks or Moore too, by the way. A lot of people fail to realize what Greb was up against when fighting Gene Tunney. Tunney went on to be heavyweight champion for crying out loud. And yes, Greb was going blind, if not already blind in his right eye. In 1923 Greb was still kickin' ass, but he was no longer at his best from what I have gathered.
