I get the feeling only Khan, Earl or Moore might win.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Can't argue with the fact that Kell has not always shown 100% commitment but, as you are from Manchester, you will know how many "big" names have run away at the last minute or turned down the opportunity to fight Kell when Young and Doherty pulled out.

So called "names" pulling out, for whatever reason, including the self styled 'Pit Bull' Cornelius Bundrage in the Contender series can frustrate an eager young fighter.

Now you say that you don't expect this fight to happen, are you anticipating another fight with a VCR, this time by Thompson, or what?

You can't pass all the blame onto Brook if his opponents don't turn up.

    Firstly im not form manchester.

As for the fight not happening, I know Mark has been / is suffering with flu and hasnt been in training, therefor, with a mere 2 and a half weeks till Dec 8th I cant see the fight with Kell being on that date, although im sure it'll happen in the near future.

I hope you're wrong but that has been the story of Kell's career. Young got flu, Doherty was K.O'd by a VCR excuses came from most of the so called top contenders at weltereight every time they were offered a fight with Kell.

It's hardly surprising therefore, that having trained hard time after time for a meaningful fight only for it to be called off at the last minute, a young boxer goes out on the town to get rid of his frustration.

Are you sure it's not that Mark can't make the weight? He has never made 147 and is listed as a light middleweight. His weight has ranged from 158, to as low as 148 when he fought Horta, but never has he come in at, or under, 147.

Nope I know that mark hasnt been training and the fight with kell had been agreed for a future date. For whatever reason (read into it what you will) the fight got "made" for dec 8th, but mark has provided a legitamate docs note saying he hasnt trained due to illness. You think mark would fight vuma at a couple of days notice but duck kell? rationally it doesnt sound plausable, does it?

Oh, as for the weight, 147 aint a problem. Believe me or not, up to you, I can tell you Mark will figh Kell whenever, but the promotional team aint daft - would you let your fighter fight in an eliminator without him being 100% ?

Ive had this debate before, very rarely do fighters come in at "championship" weight unless necesary.

No "Welterweight" should make 147 for a non-title fight, if they came in over 152 then maybe there'd be questions asked, if they came in under 147 then they should be fighting at 140 IMHO.

And yes, Hatton is included in that comment..;)

I am from the same state as Floyd Mayweather and I am not a home town fan.

    He is a complete goon.

Can't disagree with your points there. Hope Mark gets well soon. Judging by his recent fight with Horta it should be a good fight, he certainly can bang a bit.

Have just checked FWTV site again and Thompson v Brook is no longer listed on their schedule.

If I'm honest I was surprised when I first spotted this fight on there as I would have expected Thompson to be fighting on the VIP card in Wigan and not on Sport Network's. Also Thompson only fought last at the end of October in a closely contested bout - if he has been suffering from flu as well this wouldn't give him enough preparation.

He is a talented fighter and I look forward to seeing him in action again but I'm relieved if this fight isn't going ahead on Dec 8th after all.

Its not on, but it will in future as its been mandated by the board and Mark will (probably / maybe) fight a 6 round "tune up" on Dec 8th, hopefuly not against the type of fighter who's just taken a former world title challenger to a 12rd sd (as that frenchie he fought last time had).
I assume SN will have won purse bids for Mark to fight on a SN card rather than the VIP one. Anyway, not happening, for now.
