nope. not a chance only bitish refs that referee calzaghe fights would stop that fight. And absolutely no ref brought in by the new jersey state boxing commision would have stopped that fight. this is the home of srturo gatti remember.

Smooger was the only rational official there. The judges were blind.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl its hilarious how quickly people respond when someone makes a joke about pavlik, steve smogor is my favorite ref, i thought pavlik fought a great fight , i wanna see him fight abraham, duddy, or the calzaghe-kessler winner

The fact that he was not clearly out of the fight is that he was able to comeback, regroup and take over at mid-stage. Seems like another of those bitter, nonsense excuses such as Tyson stopped Buster Douglas in the 8th round - no he didn't, Buster stopped Mike in the 10th...

Smoger let Miranda continue against Pavlik when Edison was clearly in very bad shape, so his treatment of Pavlik was consistent with what he has done in the past. If Pavlik had gone down when he stumbled across the ring, I could see a ref, even Smoger, stopping the fight. But Kelly only went down once, he was up quickly, and he was never defenseless. He was in serious trouble, no question, but he stayed up and that was enough - although he nearly got lost going back to his corner after the round. He was in better shape than Diego was in the first Castillo fight.

That 2nd round REMINDED me a lot about the time Walcott drop Marciano, and Walcott cont on teeing off on the rock for the remainder of the round. Dagget didnt stop that fight.

    Taylor had 3 judges.
    They forgot the referee.

Good thing this ref called it the way he did... Imagine what we would be missing out if that fight was not allowed to continue.. Pavlik would've gone on to obscurity.... I wanted Jermaine to win but I am glad that the ref did not stop the fight because Pavlik would have been hard pressed getting another shot loosing in that manner...Good job ref!!!!

JT only has himself to blame for not putting KP away. It certainly had ****all to do with the ref.
