Two action heroes, in their primes, going at it hammer and tongs ...a rare treat. WBA flyweight title at stake, 1st defense of Concepción (although he never actually captured it; he was the interim champ and got promoted shortly before the first Márquez fight)

    Here is the original RBR.

Almost forgot about this fight, can't believe it's already been that long. Helluva barnburner fight. That should have won FOTY over Berto vs Ortiz.

Third barely counts, though...and those of us that were around for it (along with any future historians that do a modicum of research on it) will always know that when it did count Tyson had the number of El Nica...having been through many a mile of bad road by their final encounter (with KO losses to Viloria Segura, Arroyo, and Estrada in under three years). Concepción to his credit did show a strange amount of longevity for a lighter weights banger with a suspect chin... he sort of plateaued at a certain level and continued fighting reasonably well long after what many figured ought to have been his twofold ruining at Márquez's hands.

Sort of like how the Izzy Vázquez vs. Rafa Márquez rivalry is, in my mind, locked in at 2-1 for Vázquez. The fourth is its "Godfather III" - didn't happen, best left unspoken of. :sisi1
