    Video Version of the chronology of the race for number one here;

    Going via the year end ranking according to the Ring Magazine;

    1990 - Julio Cesar Chavez

    1991 - Julio Cesar Chavez

    1992 - Julio Cesar Chavez

    1993 - Pernell Whittaker

    1994 - Pernell Whittaker

    1995 - Pernell Whittaker

    1996 - Roy Jones jr

    1997 - Oscar De La Hoya

    1998 - Oscar De La Hoya

    1999 - Roy Jones jr

    Who do you think was the fighter of the 90’s? Roy Jones was the flashiest in my book but if I had to bet my mortgage on a guy to win a fairly scored decision I would pick Pernell Whittaker.

    Just missed it, he took the P4P no. 1 when he beat De La Hoya in mid 2000.

    A good win in his division but miles off the kind of win that would make you P4P no. 1.

    The best fighter of the 90s was Dustin Nichols Snr. He had the entire heavyweight division running from him for the whole decade. Want me to prove it? Just look at the boxec page for Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, or Bowe and you will not find his name anywhere. Check and mate.
