You gotta understand the Public has short-term memory.

Haye will use the Chisora fight to the fullest extent; that he dominated a common opponent. The fact that Vitalis last big fight was against Lennox Lewis which he lost. Look how he glassed Chisora and created a buzz for his next fight after the Klitschko bout, he's not a ****ing idiot.

 

I meant that he was as popular among people who watch his fights.

And as for legacy, Tyson Fury is ABSOLUTELY a huge legacy fight. He is 24 yo and has already achieved more in the sport that MOST of the 30+ yo crop of prospects/contenders.
The sky is the limit for Fury. Big, strong, likeable, and his skills are improving with every fight he's in.

I don't necessarily agree that 2013 is the yr for him to challenge for his first world title, that is unless he KNOWS full well he has little to no chance of winning, and would likely be starched.
But in terms of legacy, a win over a guy who will undoubtedly go on to have a huge record in big fights, vs a guy who will likely have 1 more big fight, I take the kid with heart and desire anyday.:huh

Yeah it will sell but it won't be as big as the Wlad fight. The fact that he's already lost to the better Klitschko will effect the numbers I reckon. I mean it's like saying to the British public, "Hey guys, rememeber that big Ukranian guy Haye lost to after talking for years about how he was going to knock him out? Well now Haye's fighting this guy's older, slower, less powerful brother who's on the verge of retirement!!! Roll up, roll up!!"

I just don't see it being all that big a ppv fight, the public can be idiots but they're not that stupid.

 

Anyway, in response to the OP, i can't see the fight being made. I have said it before, that the hayemaker is far too dangerous an opponent for vitali, at this stage of vitali's career. he won't risk it, just for the money.

money he probably doesn't need anyway. no, my prediction is, he will not fight again.

having said that, i really hope i am wrong! i would love to see the haye take his head off, but i think all this is just posturing from vitali's team, to make it look like haye's fault if the fight doesn't happen.

 

Iceman is just stating the facts, but yeah, Shaunsters right. Haye SHOULD get a shot at Vitali.

MOF.....instead of fighting for dough during the negotiations for Wlad, he should have been fighting for a rematch clause vs one or the other brother.

As for Icemans facts......

He's usually spot on calling out titlists who give lesser opponents shots at the title......in this case, ie the Wlad fight, Haye was a paper champ himself, having beaten the former titlists Valuev and Ruiz, and fought Audley, Barrett, and Bonin, 3 decent journeymen/gatekeeper types prior to the Wlad fight. So IMO, he had certainly done enough at that point to earn a shot at the Ring Champ.

As for now.....we'd all like to see him more active. Even if we dislike the guy, it has far more to do with his inactivity than it has to do with his boxing. Rightfully, some fans believe he is the best HW of this generation. It's a stretch, and theres no evidence from a ring for this belief, but he's definitely got the tools to take over the division, even now.:think

Is he signed to fight Pulev, Jennings, Potvetkin, Mago, Ruiz, Charr, Fury, Price, Arreola, Helenius and Wilder right now, and we're just waiting for the dates for these fights to be announced.

I can promise you....and you can mark this post to ridicule me in 15 yrs, that Tyson Fury, WILL have fought and beaten at least 4 of those guys on that list.
I can also promise you, that Tyson Fury WILL hold the HW title for a much longer time that Haye did, and he will be in far more HW title fights than Haye was/will be.

Haye did big big numbers coming off a loss against Chisora. That spectacular knock out brought him back into contention and along with celeb jungle has made him a bigger figure in the boxing world and the public eye.
A fight with Vitali is more intriguing as Vitali isn't as timid as Wlad and will make a fight out of it till sombody is likely to get stopped.
Haye is already a big star in Germany and a Vitali fight is the best HW fight to be made and will do big numbers.

 

You still can't get around the fact that Haye has already lost to Vitali's better brother though, this makes the fight less appealing to the public. Wlad - Haye was a unification fight that was brewing for years and had so much hype. Vitali - Haye will be a poor mans version and will not sell as much.

The Chisora fight did big numbers because of the circus act at the press conference and it was an all English fight.

Like I said before, the public are not that stupid and Haye's act, just like Vitali, is getting really old.

 

Wake up boy. If there is no interest in Haye/Vitali what hope does Vitali have to generate interest fighting somebody else.
He fought Charr in a half empty stadium. Haye will bring the numbers to this fight, not Klitschko

 

I think you'll be surprised at how big this fight will be & not just in the UK

Over here Haye is as popular as ever with the general public & certainly as famous as he's ever been. Pre-fight promises & hype are a part of the game & Haye can still sell a fight.

Like Ive said before Vitali is at least as well known in the UK as Wlad is, maybe even more so.

There is plenty of history & animosity between Haye & Vitali, loads of good quotes & past interviews. Add in Vitali being in politics & near retirement & its a genuinely competitive fight that's easy to sell.
