Who wins in my Super 6 Tourney of the 90's. I'm excluding jones as he was a class apart in my opinion. Joe Calzaghe Nigel Benn Chris Eubank James Toney Gerrald McLellan Iran Barkley Who beats who and who'd win in your opinion ? In my opinion.... Calzaghe beats all bar Toney and Mclellan Toney beats all. Eubank Loses
no way man, in the 90's calzaghe wasnt nearly the force he was later on, against lacey and kessler... toney wins outright
I'd still say he had enough to beat Benn, Eubank and Barkley. Just been reminiscing about how good Toney was in his prime recently that's all :good
Phonk read my post properly mate :good Right then Gaz i've numbered them 1-6 (In a random order) - You make the draw
give us a date, so we can judge where theyre all at career wise - eubank was better at the start of the decade
Cheeky, just at their respective best mate within the period given. Eubank was better earlier but don't forget he was a middle early on. Toney was an amazing middle and Benn wasn't bad either :good No Mas, no way (in my opinion) that Calzaghe beats a prime Toney :good
Who did Toney actually beat? I'm struggling here guys...... He's kinda got the Mayweather syndrome of not actually having to beat people because he'd beat them anyway...... all his losses in or around his best years are excused by being weight drained or not motivated. I mean, he lost clearly twice to the great Montell Griffin  Include Jones by all means in the tourney - the job still has to be done :yep
Thank goodness, a decent objective thread to have some good chat and views on...:happy It's a tough tourney to pick from...:yep I think that you could replace either Barkley or McClellan with Steve Collins, he would have given Calzaghe a tough nights work, but JC would have boxed him to a stoppage in the Championship Rounds...:yep I think that JC would have beaten Toney with the ease that he beat Jeff Lacy...:good Joe Calzaghe is the last man standing...:deal
Nah I don't rate Collins as highly personally. I'd pick McLellan and Toney to beat JC. Toney could pretty much have things his own way with him, and I just don't think Calzaghe would have ever had the heart/ferocity that Benn showed during that infamous night with McLellan. He beats Benn and Barkley and would still have him to edge past a better version of Eubank than the one he faced.
I've put a 'nope next to the ones I disagree with. The one with 'WHAT ???' by it speaks for itself :good
100% i'd take Toney here mate. I'd say Toney beats them all but Toney/McLellan would have been a wonderful fight to watch :good
