Comeback George vs Lamon Brewster at his best. I see this as an absolute slug fest. Who takes it and how/why?
Lamon put together a truly thrilling run as WBO Heavyweight champion. His wins over Wlad, Meehan, Krasniqi and Golota ... and his loss to Liakhovich ... are highly entertaining in their own ways. Really a forgotten champ because he fell off so much after he lost the title. Still, I'd go with George. He was far more durable than the guys Lamon beat. Early 90s George knocks him out. Late 90s George uppercuts and slugs his way to a decision.
I didn’t vote. I’m honestly not sure. This would be bloody. Sorta like Stewart vs Foreman was. Lamon Brewster would have been a nasty opponent for Old George.
I liked Brewster, a tough guy with good power, an overachiever, but I think even an old Foreman was a higher class of fighter.
You think Brewster would be able to apply that side to side movement? Or would he stand there and slug it out?
I think a mixture of both. Maybe starting out with the former but as the fight goes on and both get tired, dropping a defense and just throwing the big shots out there. Foreman would do what he always did and rumble forward, soaking up the shot s but Brewster has him shaken several times.
I think Tim Witherspoon and Ray Mercer were about the closest thing around in the early 90’s to a Lamon Brewster. And yeah George never even talked about fighting either of them.
This. I'm also not too sure. Brewster would have been a hard bone for Foreman to gnaw on that's for sure.
The man was durable, hard punching and had a lot of balls. His boxing ability and defense was pedestrian but he was a bull..
Butler was dangerous but I think he was a class down from those other guys. Tua didn’t emerge as a contender until the mid-late 90s by which point George was winding down.
That would make Foreman an alltime great if he gets stretched by Brewster. He and Wlad could carpool to the HOF.
