So controlled that he was Dqd twice against Santana and bombed out by Brown cause he was careless and thought hed ko Brown.
The key is for Norris to be cautious and not fight reckless. Anyone who says he did not have a shaky chin as to go back and watch the first Simon Brown fight. He was rocked with a jab.
The Santana fiasco was just weird...first fight was a matter of Santana FAKING his a$$ off. A ridiculous grazing punch to the back of this neck and he acted like he was rammed with a 4 x 4. Terrible. And the 2nd fight, Norris simply didn't hear the bell and threw an unintentional late blow. Then 3rd fight, he KOs him in 2. As for folks mentioning the first Simon Brown fight, well here's my take on that. For one, I think Simon Brown was an excellent fighter. His matches with Tyrone Trice are incredible, he was tough as nails with power to match. I don't think he gets his just due and Norris losing to him was not as bad as people think...Brown had the ability, he had the power to upset even a perennially better fighter than him like Norris. Also that jab that rocked Norris was not a matter of his chin as much as it was him being squared up and walking in to a shotgun jab. I can't count how many times I've seen a fighter dropped with a jab just because of the timing and positioning. Happened just recently in the Dirrell-Abraham fight. With all that said, yea Norris still got his a$$ handed to him that fight. He was probably just overconfident and went in there looking for the KO. We all know the weakness in Norris' armor was his chin and he certainly didnt have a great one. But to compare the Brown or Santana fights to how he would match up against Vargas is ridiculous. I think Vargas is TAYLOR MADE for Norris...slow footed, plodding and susceptible to the left hook which Norris could decapitate opponents with. I think Vargas would be bewildered and overwhelmed by the hand speed, footwork and boxing ability of Norris. I really don't even see the match being competitive.
Good analysis. Esp the part of Nando's vunerability to left hooks. Speed kills, and Terry catches Vargas with left hooks he doesnt see all night. I.E. that left hook that dropped Ray Leonard in the 2nd. Vargas gets hit with that punch EARLY and OFTEN.
Word. Terry's best punch, his left hook...Vargas' biggest weakness, susceptibility to the left hook. Against Trinidad - every single time Vargas was dropped, was by a left hook. De La Hoya - rocked him with a left hook then dropped him with a left hook. Mosely - knocked him senseless with a left hook. Now here comes Terry Norris. Take the left hook he dropped Maurice Blocker with or John Mugabi with or Joe Gatti with and you are looking at the end of the fight.
^^^ Well thats what im talking bout:yep One other thing Vargas was not slow afoot.:nono Although you did make some good points about the Vargas succeptebility to the left hook.
Norris does not have exactly the greatest resume himself Norris had 9 losses and among those losses only 1 was to a world class fighter(Julian Jackson). Vargas lost to Tito, Oscar, Shane, and Mayorga overall Vargas fought better opposition. Though I still think that Norris was great....Vargas is greater
Come on..Vargas and "great" dont even belong in the same sentence. He is a good fighter, nothing more. He lost to every elite opponent he faced. His skill set is very limited, just a tough kid. Saying that Vargas lost to those names says what about him?? Legacies show who you beat not who you lost to. And of those 9 losses Norris had, 3 of them were DQs, 1 came early in his career and 3 of them came after he was shot to SH*T. In his prime Norris only lost to Brown and Jackson.
