The Foreman that fought Holyfield vs. the Shavers that fought Ali. Who wins?

    Foreman by KO.
really easily. The only thing that kept Holy in that fight was his chin, elusiveness, and speed. Shavers has none of the following attributes, most fighters don't. so Foreman by KO inside a few rounds.

Old George knocks Earnie out within seven rounds. Prime George does the job in three.

Shavers had much better hand speed that some seem to give him credit for.
He'd have a very decent chance of landing a devastating punch on Foreman's chin.
I mean, if Ken Lakusta can send Foreman reeling with an overhand right, you have to give Shavers a real chance.

    I'd favour Foreman.

I think youre right, but I also think Foreman has a better chance of landing a big righhand on Shavers and ending him. Defensively I think Foreman was probably a little better in his comeback mostly due to his patience and commiting less to his punches. He would probably approach Shavers a little different to Lakusta too.

Yeah, the balance of chances favour Foreman.
Shavers hit fast and accurate enough to land on any version of Foreman though, so he's got to be in with a fairly big chance of his own.
I think Shavers gets a bit underestimated in certain areas. He wasn't a great fighter by any means, but his punches were more than just big clumsy haymakers. He delivered some beauties - just ask Larry Holmes !

Shavers was an excellent combination puncher. I think his combinations were what made him such a dangerous guy, but they also left openings against his shaky chin.

Foreman's chin would have the last say in this one, but it's interesting to delve into the realms of the unlikely.

If Shavers got off with a peach, how would Foreman react? One does worry about Shavers finishing abilities though; Foreman isn't the 'crude' one here.

Foreman is 'cruder' than Shavers. Foreman often stood too tall and swung punches from waist height, wide open.

But Foreman is better than Shavers too. Just tougher really, and bigger and stronger.

Foreman wasn't exactly hard to hit, and Ron Lyle had him on ***** street, so that gives us an idea of a distinct possibility of how some success of Shavers' part would look.

Yes but this is the 91 Foreman with crab crossover defense. Foreman did leave himself open though when he punched in both his careers.
