Yes, a 260lb musclehead who can punch like a damn mule kicks. The reason he didn't stop Briggs is because Jeff Mayweather, his trainer, ordered him to get in and out and maximize his advantage of mobility and stamina while maximizing Briggs' limitations of slowness and a low punch output. SI isn't going to have as much respect for Holy's punching power and he's going to fight even more aggressively vs an over the hill opponent in order to test his legs. Besides that, Ibragimov does have a tendency to deck opponents early. I don't foresee Holy lasting more than five rounds at the most.

Holyfield has been hit by much harder punchers than the Sultan ..But I understand Holy's best yrs are behind him and Sultan is young ..If Holyfield can remain injury free he is going to surprise a hell of allot of people .Its hard to make a case for him due to his ring age but don't sleep on the real deal ..I can't give SI al that much props just yet when I always considered Briggs a bum to begin with ..

Ridiculous ******ed fight. The fight with Oquendo was a flat out robbery and he fights no one and gets a title shot. How it it these ****ing losers fight no one in the top 10 and get a title shot, like Shannon Briggs?

I can't believe that there's still people who think that any one organization is any better than any of the others. WBC, WBA, and IBF is just as incompetant and pathetic as WBO. There's no justification for holding any one in higher esteem than any other. WBO is not "NEW" anymore, the fighter and championship linearity are the only things that are important in considering which belt is worth anything.

it would be cool if holyfield first fought golota. their old guys from the same era and no matter what everyone will say they didn't deserve a title shot so atleast only one of them would get it and that guy would have to beat another to get that shot.

If he was in fighting shape he would have stopped Austin very early, like in the first round. Besides, if the Holy vs Ibragimov fight takes place we'll find out. BTW, Ibragimov also pummeled Whitaker and Briggs as well as destroyed Javier Mora, a guy who gave Kirk Johnson an unexpected amount of resistance. Time will tell and I'm saying Iggy in 5 rounds or even less.

He's picked his most likely suspect, with Maskaev about to be knocked off, and OUT, by Peter. I give Evander a 50/50 shot of pulling this off. And if he does, let me tell you, it's gonna shake the boxing world.

I think Holy's best chance for a belt would be vs Maskaev, slow and with a not-so-good mandible.

Why is this a foregone conclusion on this site? This will be a tougher fight than Peter's expecting, I'm picking Maskaev.

    On what notion?

Glass chin, slow legs, average defence, vulnerability to good hooks?

This may end in the first round my friend.

Peter has never defeated a top heavyweight. James Toney has looked worse and worse every fight out recently, Peter's wins over him (a "name" guy) has clouded reality.

Peter's record is shotty at best. And are you all sure he's that big a puncher? When was his last KO? Julius Long? That fight was bull**** anyways, Long just quit. Has he beaten any other top 10 guys?

Those rabbit punches drive me nuts. They're illegal and dangerous.

Peter is a product of nothing more than clever management and promotion.

I agree about Maskaev. I'm picking him but it's for lack of belief in Peter's abilities rather than belief in Maskaev. He's old and I don't doubt that any top 10 guy could potentially KO him (except for Rahman...if he's still top 10...Maskaev officially OWNS Hasim Rahman).
