good point i think the likes off felix sturm woudnt be keen on a fight with barker after his struggle with macklin

 

It'll be interesting to see if Barker and Mackling ever move up and take on De Gale and Groves in a few years to continue the British born and bred dominance at that weight.

 

Lets be fair the Middleweight division is genuinely hotting up in Europe...Barker, Macklin, Murray are all around the same level. They you have emerging British prospects Selkirk, Saunders and Proksa (British based >_>). Leave Britain and you find guys like Pirog, Golovkin, N'dam N'Jikam, Bursak, Zbik (who has been written off). And thats with out mentioning Lee and McEwan (all European even if they aren't based here).

Leaving Europe you have Chavez Jr, Jacobs, Lemiuex, Zurdo Sanchez and even that old veteran Rubio.

It's not going to be an easy division to take a title in the next 5 years or so, a lot of hot emerging talent!

 

Sadlittleboy - Great point mate. I Never thought about how good and underated this division is. Rubio deserves another shot. Chavez is the champ but you could argue that he's not a top 15. I love to have seen Pavlik stick around because he is great when motivated and also great to watch.

 

I had it 96-94 for barker going in to the 11th. In all fairness what did Sergio Martinez do to win a lot of those rounds the close ones especially in the USA should go to the man bringing the aggression unless the other guy in this case Martinez was showing ring generalship which he wasn't and barker was bringing the aggression so the close rounds I gave to barker.

I know also you have to win a title from the champion not just nick it so I can see why some have this the other way around but if this fight wasn't for a world title and Sergio Martinez was not as popular as he is then I think a lot of you seeing the scoring the same way I am.

I would also love to know the punch stats for the fight if anyone knows them.

 

I think I had it 98-92 MArtinez.

People were giving Barker rounds whenever he landed a shot. I didn't see that he was doing enough. To me, when I judge a fight at home, the other 2:55 seconds of a round matters. Not just the 5 seconds when a guy lands a good punch.

 

97 94 for me.

 

99-91 is way too stupid, also that fat **** Dan Rafael had it 98-92

I guess its all the rage now to pull a George Groves and all but in this Country the guy making the fight has the advantage unless a defensive schooling is taking place where one man is making the other miss and is also landing punishment. Its not enough to hang around close distance and not throw very many punches, to give Barker more than three rds is bull****, I only gave him 2, the Illusion that since he isnt gettting deystroyed he is winning rds is crazy seem the limeys are all over this one.

Boxing fans have really short attention spans these days. One good performance and hes "improved dramatically!" Late bloomer!!!

Martinez has really never been in an easy fight aside from the one KO over Williams and the win over Dzinzurik.

He got hit plenty in the first Williams fight, was starting to fall behind against Pavlik until Pavlik got cut and even was having some trouble with Cintron in the second half of their fight.
