I smell an upset here. Golota from Bowe fights vs Foreman from the Lyle fight. Golota is a better boxer than Lyle, bigger, stronger, maybe faster also. This version of Foreman was less confident and less agressive. I see Golota giving him angles, working that jab and firing combos body and head when the target is open, and frankly, Foreman did have poor defense. If Lyle hit him at will, Golota sure will. Golota works well inside, and Foreman is gonna have problems if he trys to push him cause Golota is heavier than him plus Foreman tends to be sloppy and make no mistake Golota is a sharp, accurate puncher who is gonna make him pay for mistakes. Foreman punches hard but telegraphs his punches, Golota has that nice shoulder roll and slips punches well. If Golota finds himself in trouble he'll do what he has to do - head butt, low blow... which will take the steam out of Foreman. Foreman has bad pacing and stamina. He barely made through the fight vs Lyle, when he's tired it's easy to knock him down (Ali, Lyle, Young). It's gonna take more than one good punch to take away Golota's confidence, remember Bowe knocked him down and hit him with some good shots, yet Golota fought back. I see Golota stopping tired Foreman mid rounds, Foreman is gassed from swinging in the air, taking punishment from golota and low blows if necessary Your thoughts?
I can smell the upset. Golata could just be the right time right opponent. If golata giving foreman plenty of good solid jabs mixed in the rights and throwing a few lows in there then George could get demoralised. Golata like u mentioned, when in the zone could take a punch so that's taking George s confidence away bit by bit. So later rounds he's tired and taking plenty of punishment. By last couple of rounds he s got nothing left. Golata by rsc 11
Can't see it. Golota gets props for beating on Bowe but I always thought he was an arm puncher. A very sick Holyfield came closer to stopping Bowe, who was in better shape than he was for Golota 1, than Andrew ever looked like doing. He couldn't put Michael Grant away which tells me he doesn't stop Foreman. And how does he react when he gets hit by George? He doesn't want to panic and get into one of his low blow slugfest with Foreman who would have just hit him back only much harder. He didn't have the mental strength to cope with Foreman, even in 76 imo. I can't see Foreman losing unless it's by disqualification after launching Golota's codpiece into row z. Then it becomes a NC after Golota fails the drug test.
Which rules Golota out imo, Gordon. He fought the shell of Bowe. We got a more accurate picture of Golota's capabilities in the Lewis and Tyson fights and Foreman ca 76 was streets ahead of what Tyson was ca 2000 when he faced Golota.
So you're saying Golota is stronger mentally than Foreman now?? Laughably biased and agenda driven statement if so, even if we are only talking 76 Foreman. Golota would have wet his pants and folded like a table cloth against any version of Joe Frazier and you can forget about him ever climbing off the floor and fighting back as Foreman did with Lyle (and Lyle would've beat the pi$$ out of Golota as well). And for someone who is so critical of Foreman's resume and poor form, even giving a chance to someone like Andrew Golota, whose resume is embarrassing compared to Foreman's and whose losses infinitely more humiliating is just blatantly hypocritical.
Disregard this post as it answers a question i never raised. You are quoting me saying things ive never said.ive never compared Foreman and Golota. I stated that any big HW that can bang back and survive the first 3 rounds has a chance. For what its worth i would favour George in this match up.
Ahh so your statement that "anyone who can last three rounds and bang back has a chance with George Morehead" was a rhetorical generality and not applicable to Andrew Golota or this thread. Then why waste yours and everyone else's time and post it herein unless you think it's true?
Fair enough. I didn't see you'd edited your original post. My thoughts are that I know Golota dominated Bowe twice in 1996 but (and I've never rated even peak Bowe all that highly) that Bowe was absolutely awful. In the second fight alarmingly so. The true Golota was on display very soon after vs Lewis and Grant. He had a big streak of dog in him. Big George for whatever flaws he had was always courageous and would keep on coming. Golota found a way to lose or turned it up every single time he was faced with adversity. We are talking completely different mindsets, wills and levels in this match up. All I can see is a bad, bad Golota performance in this one.
Golota had 4 hw title shots was mentally deficient and some how always found a way to lose when in major tests. If he had the heart of Yaqui Lopez who challenged for the light heavyweight title 4x he could have been a potential great as his skills were that good . No way would Golota survive a Foreman onslaught as didn't go well against strong punchers like Lewis , Tyson ( No Contest)
Golota was like Ken Norton just was vulnerable to big punchers . Yes add Brewster. However this was the 3rd fight in a row where he challenged for the title. LB is under rated as McCall and Rahman names are always mentioned for ko Lewis but Brewster no credit like Corrie Sanders , Byrd for ko a Klitischko brother.
