:nonoI think you need to read my post properly and then read my other posts on this thread. The ts asks the question of Roy versus the current crop and who would stand a chance. No one is the answer! But to get the ball rolling and after a little think, i came up with Froch to stand the best chance. With reasons. Hardly ****ing delusional!
Yeah Roy's punch resistance was greatly effected by losing weight. So what, you think you know or are learning me something because you pointed that out? FFS
What i will say that is before Roy was Ko'd by Tarver, he hardly ever if at all got caught clean because of his 'superman' attributes. So who's to know if his chin was'nt always that suspect.
So in a nutshell, NO i would'nt give anyone in the current crop or any crop of super-middles a hope of beating 96 Roy. But when asked to pick then i would pick Froch. It's an opinion!

individually he could beat any of them, however in the tournament it would be more difficult for him. A tournament is like an NBA 7 game series in a way. it is long and psychologically it takes something out of a guy, and it is one tough guy after another without breaks of easy fights. I think if he was in this tournament, the 1996 Roy gets stopped along the way by a guy like Abraham. One might call it a fluke punch. But he would regroup and maybe beat a guy like Froch. But even Froch in a tournament might pose a big challenge.

Froch!!! Froch wouldnt even hit him, never mind beat him.
    Jones was incredible back then.
Benn, Toney, McCallum etc etc would have beaten all todays 168lbrs easily, never mind RJJ, and he was a league above even these guys

Wake up people. Look who Jones fought at SMW and think.

Toney, who was weight drained and struggled with limited fighters as well as losing to D Thadzi. Thats Jones best SMW victory :patsch.
    A Byrd
    Pazienza :patsch A former LW
T Thornton :-( Exposed years previously
Lucas a fair victory but Lucas wasnt as good a fighter then as he became. He was 2-2-0 in his last 4 fights going into fight Jones
Brannon a fair defence but not great by any stretch.

Now remember how Jones avoided SMW to duck Benn, Eubank, Collins as a SMW, McClellan, etc and wouldnt have faired well against Calzaghe & Ottke.

We know that Jones left SMW to avoid these challengers where at LHW he only had Michalczewski to run from.
Not to forget Jones was a proven cheat.

If Roy was against the SMWs of today I wouldnt be surprised at all if Bute (who still hasnt fought anyone of note) had the style to upset Jones, and if Jones fought Ward in Joakland, Ward would probably butt Jones to defeat, and against Dirrell, Jones doesnt want to be throwing shots at a fighter when down. A fit well Kessler would have thrown combinations and had Jones backing up for a decision loss.
Del Valle had Jones looking gone, just imagine a flush punch from Froch. We know Froch can handle fast fighters in Pascal and Dirrell

Jones beats them all. If I had to choose one with the best chance I'd say Bute because he's a southpaw, quick & powerful.

He'd wipe them all out with ease. He barely lost a round against James Toney, who was himself a much, much better fighter than anyone in the current smw division.

I mean, every line of this post is complete bull****, but that statement on Kessler-Jones really is one for the time capsule.

    You're a ****ing disgrace. :yikes:yikes:yikes

    Shut it slut.
Was M Griffin the much smaller fighter able to back Jones up? Kessler is a far better, bigger stronger fighter than Griffin, and used to throw very good combinations

Sorry but I can't think of anyonee right now, he was too good for anyone at 160 right now, not even sergio or a sober pavlik. It's not even worth discussing.
