WBC does have the power to modify the split in special circumstances when the marketability of one fighter is above another; it can choose a 60-40 or 70-30 split, as well.

If I had to speculate, they'll roll with 70-30, and the fight will get made at that split.

You see, your problem is that you're talking about reality, and they could care less about reality. The numbers you posted they'll just ignore an continue posting their ridiculous BS.

Of course, because if GGG steps into the ring people will see him walk away with a victory and respect, which is precisely what they don't want. That's all it is.

And people still post like Canelo fights are structured the same way normal fights are, like 90-10 means anything.

Sigh. Do some homework, people. If you're going to guess, at least have some basis in reality.

Canelo-GGG will probably feature relatively low guaranteed purses of a few million each- perhaps 2-4 for Golovkin, 5-7 for Alvarez- with a little PPV upside going to GGG and more on the back end for Canelo.

Canelo will get paid royally by Mexican TV networks who have to bid against each other every few fights for his broadcast rights. That money isn't part of the pool, but in essense subsidizes the guaranteed portion of PPV sales so he doesn't have to take that for himself to get paid- that makes GBP more money and also lets his opponents make more. That's why fighters are idiots to not chase a Canelo fight.

The low guarantees make it easy for GBP and K2 to pull a profit in- breakeven under the high end of the guaranteed estimates I just gave would be 315k, and 200k under the low end. End result- everybody's making money here. Speculate all you want on how much it'll sell, but there's no way it's doing less than Khan just did, and that makes it a moneymaker. And that's the key- the end result is everyone's making money here. A good show, and the loser won't see their earnings power drop nearly as much as people think.

Contrast that to Lara-Alvarez, where Lara wasted the opportunity of a lifetime by making sure none of the hundreds of thousands of fans who hadn't seen him before would pay to see him on the big stage again.

Khan is not one of the biggest names in boxing. He does not draw bigger numbers, or get a big attendance in the States. Look at how much he drew against Alexander.
Khan alexander did 762k vs Lemieux/rosado doing 908k. Really Khan does nto bring much to the table.

60-40 is not even close to a good split.
GGG did 97k against Lemieux, and Canelo did more than 3x that with 330k, not to mention Canelo took like a 25/75 split against Cotto. 70-75/25-30 split is more than fair. Canelo did the same PPVs against Angulo and Lara with Khan. Lara is not a bigger draw than lemieux. Caenlo has proved that he is more than 3x the draw.

Canelo should get 80%. Golovkin's numbers are awful compared to Canelo's, over the last few fights.

That sounds reasonable. Canelo definitely brings in more $ than GGG.

    Maybe 75% would be ideal.
