Indeed. :good It won't be pretty, but that Hopkins is going to have one hell of a resume at the end of it all. Winky Wright, Antonio Tarver, Kelly Pavlik, Oscar De La Hoya, Tito Trinidad.

Not a problem at all. I expect my opinion to be confirmed after the fight. If I am wrong, and Pavlik wins, he is the truth. People will play down the win, but a win over Hopkins even now is still a fantastic achievement. I think that's where my view and the majority of ESB differ. Hopkins isn't as great as he was, his tactics are crude now, but he is still one of the toughest fighters to overcome in the world of Boxing. Credit to Pavlik if he pulls it off and proves me wrong.

NO he can't and NO he won't. In fact, he will lose. The disparities between the two in craft, skill, and ring intelligence is too vast for Pavlik's edge in youth, aggression, and workrate IMO.

    Amen.

My point exactly only I couldn't contextualise it in that manner.

Kelly has never been in with a fighter of Hopkins experiance and skill, and that will be a factor when Hopkins spoils all of Pavlik's work.

Your arguments have zero merit. Pavlik beat Taylor TWICE, and Hopkins clearly WAS NOT to much for JT.

mayorga beat forrest twice, who beat mosley twice, who beat oscar twice.

if you want to break arguments down like that then who's argument has no merit now?

I just feel that Hopkins will make it as ugly as possible . I don't think Hopkins wants one of his last fights to end in him being KO ed .So I expect the hug fest ..For Kelly he just has to train to fight off the hug .

Pacquiao beat Barrera who beat Morales who beat Pacquiao.
Frazier beat Ali who beat Foreman who beat Frazier.

    See my point.

He said Pavlik does not have the skill and ring intelligence to deal with Hopkins. There is absolutely no basis for that assertion. In fact, the evidence suggests otherwise.

He CAN stop him, but will he I don't know. I'd never bet against Hopkins though.

Has Pavlik had to show the ability to adapt? Prior to fighting Taylor, who else has Kelly beat that would be considered higher than B level?

He was not talking about the traingulation of common opponents, and neither was I. He was talking about skill and ring intelligence. Styles make fights, as we all like to say. Hopkins just isn't that tricky anymore. He wasn't even tricky enough to beat Jermain Taylor. He's good at clinching, fighting dirty, and he has a good counter right. After that he does not have a lot to offer these days. His stamina sucks, and his legs are shot. His work rate is pathetic.

The dirty tactics, clinching, and in fighting worked against Clazaghe because Joe's offense is sloppy, and he was there to be hugged. When Hops tries that **** with Pavlik he'll find out that **** don't work against someone as strong as Kelly who knows how to control distance.

Pavlik will control this fight from the 5th round on, and stop Hopkins in under 10. He'll do that by controling the distance, cotroling the pace, and listening to his corner. Those abilites translate into what? Skill and ring intelligence.
