Yeah I don't know how the notion of some quality up and coming fighters taking on the best in the world is killing boxing. What has the world come to? Most have Mayweather ranked number one at 154. His title is about as credible as Pacquiao's bogus 154 title.

I don't see how you can be a fight fan and not want to see #1 and #2 fight each other... or are you some type of closet Mayweather stalker whose only wish is to see him in sweaty trunks as often as possible?

Trout has earned his shot at Canelo, a fight many of us thought he would not get. So now that he finally has a chance to prove himself as the best in his division, you cry that Floyd should have fought both because the fights were "lucrative". Yet you deride other posters for caring about what Floyd makes for a fight...:nut :huh Do you not see the fail in your logic?

The sport of boxing is bigger than a 36 year-old semi-retired weight-jumper holding divisions hostage. A true boxing fan would wish not to see a repeat of what happened to the sport when DLH gained this same ability.

Floyd himself is a product of such thinking.

Because its good to have guys like Alvarez and Trout have career defining fights to prove they belong on the stage with Mayweather.

The winner of Alvarez vs Trout leaves no excuses for haters when Mayweather faces the winner. They have the youth, they have the size, and they have the career defining fight that showed they belonged on that stage.

Can't claim they were to green.

This thread is a classic example of a complete dumbass allowing his "hate" to cloud his judgement. He simply lost his **** and said the first moronic thing that popped in his mind, a sort of temporary insanity. Think before post ****** and you can a avoid this kind of thing in the future.

Because Mayweather decisively beat the guy who Trout beat to rise from the ass end of the top 10 BEFORE Trout beat him...

Most people on this site didn't even know who Trout was before the Cotto fight. Or if they did, they dismissed him as a nobody who has never beaten anyone of note because, obviously, if you're undefeated that means you suck and have never fought anyone in today's boxing world.

    This.

Garcia concussed the whole lot of them that balmy night in July, and they've never truly recovered.

Well, weight classes do exist in boxing... right?

And are any other elite, consistently ranked P4P fighters of the past several years any different?

No, they're not. When Paul Williams is the guy who stands out as most breaking that mold, than that says something.

    ---

    Oh, and...

If the Alvarez fight happened and Floyd won: "The kid was 22 years old. Green as grass. That win doesn't mean anything. Might as well have fought a local from the tavern. He'd have a chance, not this kid."

If the Trout fight happened and Floyd won: "Come on! The guy has only one win of any relevancy and it's over the shot to pieces corpse that was Cotto. This win means nothing."

The next time in an interview or probably in HBO 24/7 when Floyd Mayweather says something along the lines of him being the #1, P4P, PPV TOP DAWG AND KING OF THE SPORT....I want all of you to think back to this thread and post within this thread. Two of the top 154lbs fighters in the world just agreed to a fight and what is everyone talking about...FLOYD MAYWEATHER!! In fact...these two top young fighters are fighting as the undercard for a FLOYD MAYWEATHER EVENT.

All of you claim to dislike and Hate this man, yet you guys always find a way to inject him into a topic, conversation and/or thread that has absolutely nothing to do with FLOYD MAYWEATHER.

    SMH!!!

Hard to say they garner fights with Floyd when both they're best wins are two wins that Floyd gets a ton of shyt for!(Cotto/Mosley)
