Johnson was a journeyman. Its a fine win, but not great. I included Tito in the original post. Overall, I agree they're better, but it isnt leaps and bounds better. Its longevity as much as quality that defines Hopkins mw reign.

 

Ha-ha-ha. Undefeated Johnson had a boxrec rating of 72 going into the Hopkins (rating 508 ) fight. That laughable rating shows what level of opposition he was beating. For comparison, ratings of the worst Golovkin's opponents in the last 5 years:

I've been on multiple threads defending Hopkins where I saw fit. When Hopkins fought Johnson at MW, it was his 1st step up. Many, many moons, many losses, and 2 weight classes later GJ KO'd RJJ and beat Tarver at LHW. Still a journeyman. The very definition of a journeyman. Ilove GJ. Out of all the guys we've mentioned here, RJJ, BHop, GGG, Glen Johnson is my favorite. But he is what he is.

i think it would be silly to automatically say this, golovkin has looked much better then hopkins should the fight had happened at 160 i think golovkin would be a considerable favorite
