A 37 years old of shape Lewis (the way he fought Vitali) Vs Haye, who would have won?

Honestly I think Haye runs for the first six and Lewis gases before getting peppered to a KO victory. I see Haye taking it, IF Lewis was in his pre-retirement form.

Lewis wins, TKO, probably round 6.

No way Haye could take the shots Vitali took. Sure Lewis wouldn't land as many but at some point when Haye's in close Lewis would unleash a similar uppercut sending Hayes head to Mars.

Wlad has little or no infighting ability when he clinches where as Lewis would be peppering him with short hooks and uppercuts in the clinch.

    Lewis ko within 6.

    Haye wins
This was old past prime Lewis.
Haye would be too fast and powerful.

Vitali's not a soft puncher by any means and Lewis though staggered at points kept marching forward firing back.

Hayes only chance is to put everything into one shot ala Rahman/McCall. But Lewis wasn't in as bad shape as the Rahman fight and was far more mature than the McCall fight so I'd say his chances are slim.

    Lewis destroys.

Haye hasn't beat anyone remotely decent at heavyweight.

Lewis KO Hayes power is not all that great at heavyweight, and Lewis would brake him down, and i agree Haye would try to run.

Lewis wasn't very old for a big heavyweight. He had shown to be fighting at his best during that period of his career. People like to overexaggerate this "old/out of shape" Lewis to make excuses for Lewis "not looking the same" in his fight against Vitali. In reality... Lewis didn't "look the same" because Vitali made him look that way. It had nothing to do with being in bad shape or being old. Wladimir Klitschko turns 36 years old this month. Vitali is 40 years old right now.

Lewis was in great shape for his fight against Vitali. If Lewis was out of shape... there is no way in hell that he would have recovered from that 2nd round beating and came on stronger 3-4 rounds afterward. It makes absolutely no sense. It was Lewis' great condition that allowed him to survive Vitali's onslaught and recover. Yes... he was exhausted at the end of the fight. That is because he had just taken more punishment than he had ever sustained over the course of 6 rounds and Vitlai pushed him like nobody else had. Lewis couldn't relax in his own range because he was still in Vitali's range. Everything about that fight was new and different for Lewis and that is why he didn't look like he usually did. Vitali was simply a better and bigger opponent than Lewis usually faced.

Lewis's prime was 1992-1998. He was much quicker and went for the knockout. Had McCall not landed with that punch with his eyes closed, and Lewis hadn't been counted out in 3 seconds when he got up by yet another British referee stopping the fight early. Then Lewis would have been more attacking and more devastating in his career.

All boxers like to say that their last training session was the best. Or that they have never been fitter. Truth is, Lewis was slow and out of shape compared to what he used to be. People noticed this but Lewis's reply was like "I'm like a fine wine" and all that BS.

Vitali admitted that he had been preparing and sparring to fight Lennox Lewis and had been doing so for one year before they met. Lewis on the otherhand didn't even know who Vitali was.

Just who was Vitali Klitschko back then??? He was a nobody. Both had trained to fight that night. But both had only 2 weeks to prepare.

Lewis had acheived everything in his career. Vitali had achieved nothing and had something to prove.

The thing Lewis nuthuggers simply dont get from the perspective of an objective observer who believes Lewis won the fight fair and square and was also given the proper incentive to hang up his gloves because of the threat Vitali posed to his reign is that they are selling their boy far too short. That 37-year-old Lewis handles Top 20 ATG Heavyweights in their primes. He was that great.

The great dissapointment for no rematch doesnt necessarily rest on the belief system that Lewis loses the second fight but also: How much better is he going to be when he drops a few pounds and has a proper camp to prepare and know what he's up against? He couldve very well cleanly KO'ed Vitali for the ten count and you'd never, ever hear all this nonsense.
