for those who have ordered it: I received this message via Livefight Just to clarify (and also repeat this on other forums if the questions are raised) Currently there are two payment gateways that Sky utilise for purchasing 'on demand' events. Due to limited time in getting the platform off the ground in time for the Froch fight, PrimeTime have utilised the 'IPPV' method of purchasing the fight. What this means is, you will need to ring them and make the purchase of the fight over the phone. They will then take your £12.95 and then set up a PPV account with Sky (a further £2.50). They will then ask if your box is connected to a telephone line. If your box IS NOT connected to a telephone line then you will NOT be able to purchase the broadcast. The reason for this is, on the night, you will be presented an option to purchase the fight. When you press select to view, then select to confirm the purchase, the box will dial out to confirm that payment is in place and will then activate the broadcast. On the night, it may say that the fight is £14.95 when you press select. If you have purchased the fight earlier for £12.95 then DO NOT FEAR your account will only be debited for that amount and not the higher amount. For the next fight (Kessler vs Ward) the OPPV method of purchasing the fight will be in place. You will simply select it from the screen and the fight will be confirmed via satellite with no requirement for any connection. Due to time constraints previously described, this method of payment has not been put in place in time for this event. So your choices are to purchase a telephone extension lead to get that box hooked up to the telephone line or you can view the fight online.
That message was sent to me via livefight who have ties with Hennessy I believe. So it's not confirmation but it's better to read that than the opposite.
help please. im hoping to buy the event but im gonna be out during the fight so wont be able to watch it live, will primetime be repeating the fights the next day or will i need to set my video to record it all on the night????
They are repeating the event. If you go to Box Office on your handset and Sports and Events you'll see the times/dates etc. You can't order it via your handset though. I presume that once you order it you get the repeats too. But i would phone primetime and confirm.
DODGY!!! I reckon all of our identities are going to be stolen and bank accounts emptied by 12 noon on Sunday!
thanks uppercut. one other quick question, my folks pay for sky and its in there name, am i able to order the event but pay for it through my debit card, so my folks wont get charged?
Well primetime will ask for the viewing card number which is obviously in their name so they may ask to speak to them first or alternatively just give your folks the cash and get one of them to make the call. All you can do is ask.
what if you have purchased it but it turns out the telephone line isn't connected. if you don't press select to purchase will i still be charged?
Im so gutted im with virgin right now! is there anyway i can buy a certain box that connects to the phone line which will give me the option to purchase the fight or is signing up to sky the only way to order for the tv?. i know i can stream from the internet but i just dont enjoy it half as much that way
I'm not going to bother I don't think. Too many variables. I have an old sky digibox, with no subscription to sky. The phone line isn't attached, and would need me to move my furniture around. Plus I have to call, then buy the PPV on the night, then hope it all works. I think I'll just stay of ESB for a couple of days and get it on DVD instead.
