I was just handed a 1957 edition of Ring Magazine (loaned to me - mint condition). The main fight report is Sugar Ray's KO of Gene Fullmer. You guys are the most knowledgable folks on the board, and I know some of you do a lot of collecting, so could you tell me if it is worth anything. I was just wanting to find out for the guy who let me have it for a while; he is a former pro-boxer from here in Belfast called Tommy Armour (well thats his ring name - his real surname is actually Ormerod). He is the nephew of a more famous Uncle by the same name (you might have heard of him; although he is a bit of a local boy and more known over here I would say). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You get Rings on ebay often. It depends how old it is. The older the issue, the higher the value. My guess is it's worth £5 tops. It's not worth hundereds of pounds, put it that way. Obviously a mint copy holds it's value more. Personally, I'd pay no more than £5 for it.
I think it was June, but to be honest I am up at my GF's house and was afraid to bring it out with me in case I damaged the thing. It has a colour drawing of Sugar Ray on the front cover. Its actually quite a relief to find out that it isn't worth that much; I have been shiting myself about damaging the thing ever since I received it. As I said its in good condition, but it does seems fragile.
