for **** sake please stop posting this. he was momentarily stunned. hardly jelly legs. i mean look at that short right that kessler hit him with as he was coming towards him. that was a much harder shot and yet he took it.

    Some great examples. :thumbsup

Clottey and Taylor would be my best examples from the present.

Taylor's may have been down to the step up in class, he has been in with some top class opposition...although he had some good names in trouble yet he couldn't finish them off, it was almost as if he didn't remember how to.

Clottey is very big for his weight, can take a punch, and looks as if every punch he throws hurts...or should hurt. Yet his KO percentage is something like 40-50% if I'm correct. His workrate is no doubt down to that, but if he put alot more conviction into the sparing amount of punches he does throw, I could see him taking more people out. Pacquiao for example...he hit Pacquiao with his straight right numerous times during the 12 rounds. Yet I can't remember one time when he threw the punch other than trying to land on Pacquiao.

I always got the feeling Jake La Motta was a good puncher but never had a high KO ratio. I could be wrong.

i would say glen johnson, terry norris, ike williams, pernell whittaker when he truly sat down on his punches, jermain taylor, timpthy bradley, and many others. boxing fans today tend to look at KO% to measure a fighters punching power. but any real fan can tell you that can derive from anything. a high KO percentage can derive from a fighters high workrate, and their high punch output can take a toll on their opponent. vitali klitschko is the perfect example of this. ive never seen him truly starch anyone with the exception of glass jawed danny willams, he usually just batters them until they quit on their stool or until the ref steps in. edwin valero was another example of this, not exactly a concussive hitter but he applied such relentless pressure on his opponents that it would just break them down until they had nothing left.
