A Boxing Commision would just get sued all the time.

I was listening to Friday Night at the Fights on SiriusXM 94.
Jerry ****ey was hosting and they were talking about Randall "Tex" Cobb and the beatings he stood up to against Ernie Shavers, who hit him with right hands until he was tired, Ken Norton and Larry Holmes.

Jerry wondered, " What happened to Cobb and where is he today?" Tex Cobb was considered the man that had the toughest chin in boxing history. I started thinking about they way they were describing how bad the beating were and then I thought about all the players that are suing the NFL for concussions sustained during players careers that lead to traumatic brain injury.

The only reason certain people are crying about a boxing commission today is because of the rise of Al Haymon, but never consider the fact that boxing would be dead broke if it did have a governing body. Making fights is the last thing that investors care about, that for the fans. Money is the sole reason that commissions are made in the first place. Boxing is a niche' sport.

This forum has about 300 active members with about 80 signed up that post frequently. Boxing can't live on 80 people, now think globally. I just wanted to get that off my chest.

In USA, each state has a governing body. Magomed Abdusalamov has a pending lawsuit against the New York State Athletic Commission that is being dragged out.

And rightfully so, they mismanaged things that night that may have led to, or at least worsenedt, Mago's current condition.

Either way, the idea that a main body would be open to suit isn't a bad thing. Let someone have the onus on them to have to answer for the decisions made that effect the fighters.

A commission's main purpose, IMO, would be to oversee the institution of boxing, to lend it credibility by enforcing rules and regulations that are good for the sport as a whole, and further the interests of the sport. As it currently stands, the alphabet orgs each run their own little corner, like feudal barons, only answering to their own self interests. It is compounded by the promoters, who strictly manage their own affairs, caring not about the obstacles and damage they do to the sport as a whole. It's a system that has no credibility.
