I "blazed" Danny Rand because he "blazed" me. That is, he was reactionary -- just as you were -- and I responded. Rand came into my thread to try to spoil it like Ward spoiled tonight's fight. That's all it was. You don't have to agree with me, that's fine. But I have a right to my opinion -- one shared by many -- and you guys don't have to come in and lose it because I'm expressing myself. If you do, then don't think I won't come back at you. I wanted to see a good fight tonight. What I, and others, got was something that felt fixed and corrupt. That's how it seemed to me, and that has nothing to do with my prediction. I was one of the first people here to congratulate B-Hop when he schooled the guy I picked, Pavlik.
It's the minority opinion, and one held by mostly nagging trolls that just won't owe to their guy losing or being wrong. Even the Dane Kessler fan admitted that Ward just was the better man tonight. That's the ultimate truth, which makes you emphasizing all these even more pointless. Fixed and corrupt? Are you serious? Well, somehow it didn't translate to the judges. They must have not gotten the message (Kessler got 2-3 rounds I believe). Continue though... if you please.
I almost hate to say it and I know I'll get **** for it since I bet huge on Kess and made a forum absence bet and really thought Kess would win this one but I absolutely agree that the referee made a massive difference in this fight and I am quite surprised by the lack of backlash on this forum. I agree with everything Kessler said after the fight. He was being held the whole fight from beginning to end and intentionally headbutts and even hit low. There were no warnings to Ward, yet Kessler was being told to "stop holding" and Ward was allowed to fire off shots as Kessler was doing what the ref told him too, the ref wouldn't go in and actually break the fighters many times, instead just tell Kessler to let go and allow Andre to fire away. Where were the warning and point deductions for the endless holding, holding and hitting, intentional headbutting and low shots? I know what you will say, this guy is pissed because his man lost and he is trying to save face. Well, I will say that Kessler should have gone all Froch on Ward's ass and fouled the living crap out of him, hit low, thrown elbows at his face, hit him on the hips and anything else, because he wasn't being allowed to fight in a fair fight. Andre showed us great speed and some classy inside fighting and he at times made Kessler look lethargic and befuddled but that was clearly CLEARLY only one side of the story. The other was the fact that any time Kessler would get going Andre would wrap his arms around him or fire away a few shots and charge in with a massive and intentional headbutt. I think sometimes people are afraid to say what the feel because of the backlash and they don't want to be perceived as bad sport. Honestly, I like Kessler's chances with a neutral ref in a rematch. Kessler's problem was he didn't start fouling like crazy, he took the high road, and that was a mistake. I would have rather been DQ'd than allowed the ref to only ref one fighter - Kessler, when it was the other fighter, Ward responsible for all the fouls and intentionally show. With that said....... A win is a win. Ward got the W and that is all my bets were about. Next time I need to be more careful with hometown refs when I have the other guy.... Is Ward for real? For me the question is still unanswered until he faces a top opponent with a neutral ref. Maybe I am completely biased and full of BS because I just lost, a lot of posters are here seem to think Ward won fair and square and easily so I need to take that into consideration.
Ward won in every facet possible. Out jabbed, landed more power shots, slipped punches better, better ring generalship, better positioning, better stamina, and better inside fighting. Most importantly, three judges saw him do the same things everyone with a pair of eyes could see. This fight wasn't even close and the only thing some people can harp on are head clashes and holding. The better man won, get over it.
Irrelevant. I don't necessarily want to win a popularity contest on ESB. I'm not certain that's a badge of honor, if you get my drift. The stuff highlighted in the blue is more of your "reactionary" stuff. I already gave the counterexample by citing the Hopkins-Pavlik fight. And the nagging troll comment -- you know well I'm no troll -- just shows you're reduced to your "I'm rubber, you're glue" mode. The fight sucked, especially the second half of it. The headbutts caused the cuts, the cuts had an effect, the ref was a joke and Ward punked out as the fight went on. It's the second fight of the tournament that had a poor ending and it is not what fans want to see. It's very tough to walk away from this fight feeling good about what happened. That's not a good thing for the sport.
I see. When you take a controversial opinion I guess you have to expect that. But to be fair he called you a clown and then you turned the head up. It doesn't matter. Try to reevaluate yourself. If you honestly feel the event felt fixed and corrupt, and that Ward wasn't the better man (Although the small factors of head-but had an influence) then you need to re-watch the fight. Ward wasn't a disgrace or a punk. None of the headbutts were intentionally, and it is apart of the sport. Besides, it's really moot. He was just out-classing Kessler throughout the entire fight. Before and after the head-but cut. This is the truth.
Exactly. This is the problem for people watching the fight. Every fight can get dirty. But there was a huge amount of sustained dirtiness in this fight and it affected the outcome. The cuts came from headbutts. The ref was a joke. It was in Ward's hometown. Etc. This is why people are ticked off and very unsatisfied. Hopkins schooled Pavlik. No controversy, and I was happy to admit I was wrong. This was junk, a crap and dirty fight, and one also stained by biased and awful reffing. It feels much more like Dirrell-Froch than Abraham-Taylor, and that's not a good thing for the tournament or the sport.
Ward owned Kessler tonight. I'm unbiased. I could give a **** who won. The European vs. USA angle is irrelavent to me. It looked to me like Kessler got completely outworked and outboxed. There were two bad headbutts but that aside he still looked like he was getting worked. I don't agree with the holding angle. I thought Ward owned him on the inside.
I knew you would say something like that. It's clearly obvious to anyone that if you can see the disparity in reason and objectivity between the posters that go "BS headbutts" and "Ward was simple the better man" that the level-headedness is obvious. You did the same thing with the Froch vs Dirrell fight. Completely and selectively over-dramatize your points. What Froch did with hitting low and excessively rabbit punching was illegal. Yes, Dirrell held a lot and looked amateurish in the middle rounds but Froch reacted in a dirty illegal fashion. Dirrel never did anything illegal. No, it's factual. You can see it within the posters. Clearly a difference in quality between the one liners and detailed and reasonable posters. The first cut was caused by a punch. The last cut was clearly caused by a headbutt. The rest isn't entirely clear, and really not substantial. Ward punked out? You're a joke, really. I'm done with you. The guy who fought the better fight is a punk? You're not a good thing for the sport. Can't reason with the unreasonable. Clearly...
If you really believe that, I would suggest watching the fight again. Ward was tiring later in the fight and that's when he started really going with the butts. That's what really ticked me off. Look, Ward was clearly better in the first half of the fight. I absolutely admit that. I just wish the fight would not have unraveled as it did. It's not like Kessler can't get a late KO, he's done it before. What happened, and how it happened, took away from what could have been a fulfilling and untainted bout. Instead, we have this.
