Yes because he's not moving up two division. His last fight was at Super Middleweight, his fight before that was a catchweight between Super Middle and Light Heavy, as this one is.

He hasn't fought at Middleweight in nearly 3 years now.

Yeah as previous poster have mentioned he is not moving up two weights ad Chavez Jr already has half a dozen "wins" on his record which should have gone the other way. If this is another one of those then I have had enough of his career.

I suppose though you could make a sound argument that Fonfara beats anyone GGG has boxed though.

He has had a long layoff at least he isn't looking for an easy fight to come back on.

Mind you the lineal SMW champ who is arguably one of the best fighters in the sport is looking to come back against the likes of Paul Smith and he has only been out 3-4 months longer than Chaves.

It'll be quite impressive, I already think walking through a ton of sharp rights from Andy Lee and walking him down and stopping him is worth more than a few of GGG's wins.

Murray, Geale, Fonfara and Chavez Jr. are world class fighters, B level players. That's all they are. They are not elite pound for pound players and will never be. They've had chances against elite guys and they've lost. I think Murray is the best of the lot based on his great efforts vs Martinez and Sturm, who were maybe B+ when he fought them.

The winner of Chavez-Fonfara is right back in a title fight though.

Chavez Jr. is easily A grade at SMW and below. He does need to prove himself at LHW and Fonfara is a very good test.

Come on, man. Murray and Macklin did not fight the real Sergio. They fought the shot and decrepit quasi paraplegic crippled Sergio. Like Cotto did.

The real Sergio was only in the ring against the great Kelly Pavlik, who every ESB poster knows was only great for that one fight. And the great Julio Cesar Chavez Junior. But not in the twelth round of that fight. Rounds 1-11 was the real Sergio. Old crippled Sergio was in round 12. Oh yeah, and the real Sergio was also in the Paul Williams fight. But only the second one, not the first one. The first one wasn't the real Sergio either.

Please, Macklin - and especially Murray - know nothing about the real Sergio.
